--- The Pit of Mimir In the deep roots of Yggdrasil that extend towards the kingdom of Jotunheim, there is a well called Mimisbrunnr and in it is found Mimir, the wisest of the Gods. Once, wandering the depths of Yggdrasil's roots, Óðinn, came to such a well and saw in it all wisdom and knowledge mirrored. He then decided that he would drink from that water. He introduced himself as Vegtam and asked the lord of the well to drink that water. However, Mimir, knowing the value of that liquid, refused the request. “Only with a guarantee, will you drink the water. And that guarantee is one of his eyes. “- says Mimir. So without hesitation, Óðinn, accept the condition and pluck one of your eyes and throw it at the bottom of the well. Then he drinks the water and is soon nourished by the wisdom of all things. Now wise, Óðinn, he knows the transitory nature of all things, including the destiny of the Gods. #odin #mimir #Mimisbrunnr #yggdrasil #norrænssiðr #oldnordic #culturanordica #norsepagan #deusesnordicos #northerncultute #norse #norsemythology (em Iggdrazil) https://www.instagram.com/p/COfWqd0M-4xD4VTmYzSErSScfExFQQ6mzm_3Ug0/?igshid=wme6uwe9l7q4
@oldnordic || mathias did something stupid. again.
❝You have no one to blame but yourself for this, you know. ❞ A disappointed look found the Dane as he busied himself patching up the wound he had sustained. Not that Hákon could initially blame him for being a little too excited, but that excitement had got carried away and here he was, being bandaged for a head wound that left him unsure if he would survive the night.
Snapping his fingers in front of Mathias’ face, an attempt to keep him awake and conscious. With being unsure of his condition, it was safe to say that Hákon would not allow him to fall asleep so easily. ❝Stay awake, you can’t fall asleep.❞
He grimaced and tiredly looked up at Hákon, ice blue eyes hazy and a little unfocused. The blood that dripped down his temple didn’t seem to faze him, but whether that were because he was used to it from years hardened in battle or what, didn’t matter. Damn him and his habit to leap before he thought things through.
The snapping had Mathias blinking rapidly in shock, jerking his head up with a low whine and a swaying in his shoulders. Ugh. That...didn’t feel good. “Have you seen Aleksander?” He slurred quietly, hazy eyes glancing to the side in search of the Norwegian. Stay awake...he couldn’t fall asleep, Mathias knew all this but even still...it was so tempting. “M’head hurts.”
@oldnordic || just a couple of dummies smh
❝You’re right, I don’t understand. So why don’t you stop being so cryptic and tell me. ❞ Was that a little harsh? Perhaps so, but in situations where he was being left in the dark did not suit his curiosity. Of the three of them, Aleks was by far the most concerning - Hákon always did have a difficulty reading him.
It was becoming annoying far too quickly.
❝You know I hate these games. Out with it, already. ❞
It was so easy to piss off the old man.
“Because it’s just as easy to watch you spin out because I refuse.” It was a sardonic smile that painted itself on the Norwegian’s face, his head cocking to the side. Aleksander knew that Hákon liked to use his intimidating nature to get what he wanted-- It was something that was ingrained in all of them. Unlucky for old Scandia, though, Aleksander had long stopped fearing him or his temper tantrums.
“worrying won’t do you any good.”
matti’s a klutz so...have fun? || accepting
Mathias sighed and plopped down only to stand up and continue his pacing. His teeth dug into his bottom lip and he spun and frowned slightly at Hákon. “It’s my job to.” He murmured quietly, dragging a hand through his hair. He sat down again and tugged his knees up, hugging them to his chest as he pouted. “This isn’t like him.”
This is more of a note to myself of how one language can influence another.
