i wooed all of them and then got my heart broken when i realized both of them played me and there will be no sandwichin’ tonight. but the whore houses stayed true to me xo
i was tagged by everyone and their mother (mainly @oldworldasshole, @ifishouldvanish and @alecharrdy) to talk about nine albums i’ve been listening to lately, so here we go.
WITH TEETH by Nine Inch Nails — it’s my go-to album when i’m working on gifs and edits, especially if i need a gentle push into angstville. songs such as All the love in the world, Love is not enough, Every day is exactly the same, Only and Right where it belongs just trigger certain emotions in me. Hands down an album constantly on my rotation and an album that makes me melancholic as hell.
EGO by OOMPH! — there are two songs on that album, Serotonin and Dopamin with no lyrics but they are such great mood songs to just get lost into while creating stuff? I love listening to them even while writing. There is a B-side single called Niemand (Nobody) that is one of my all-time favorite OOMPH! songs. Just a great album I enjoy listening from start to finish.
THE NOTHING by Korn — it opens with The end begins and it sets the mood for the entire album. It’s angry, it’s hurt, it’s mixed with melancholy of what has been and what could have been, and everything is delivered in such a quintessential Korn way. They have been my fav. band since i was 10 or 11, and I will never grow tired of them. Been listening to this album whenever I’m commuting and songs such as Cold, You’ll never find me, The seduction of indulgence, Can you hear me and H@rd3r are just fucking fantastic.
STEH AUF by Lindemann — granted it’s a single and not a whole album, but it’s a side project of Rammstein’s and Pain’s singer, and they just mix so well together. Definitely a song i’ve been listening to a lot while going for a walk or just going around. If you love Rammstein and Pain, check out Lindemann.
THE HIGH END OF LOW by Marilyn Manson — look, I grew up with Marilyn Manson and he is always on my rotation, one way or another. Songs such as Leave a scar, Four rusted horses, Black and white, Wright spider and Running to the edge of the world are just ... such good songs. They put me in a mood and I would listen to them on repeat while doing stuff in Photoshop. Just so good.
UNPLUGGED IN NEW YORK by Nirvana — there is just something so raw and beautiful about Kurt Cobain’s voice and I love putting Where did you sleep last night? on repeat and belt out because it’s just such an emotional song. It makes me think about a lot of things and whenever I feel hurt or sad, this is my go-to song.
...LIKE CLOCKWORK by Queens of the Stone Age — this is a band i got into because of @ifishouldvanish and whenever i miss her or get melancholic about something, I’d put on I sat by the ocean, Smooth sailing and I appear missing. Plus I love the sexy riffs, Josh Homme’s voice and the way their songs just make you sway side to side; QotSA albums can push you in so many directions; into sweet melancholy or into sweet love making, and I love that about them.
DEUTSCHLAND by Rammstein — i know Rammstein aren’t everybody’s cup of tea especially since their lyrics are in German so a lot of people struggle with that but, the undeniable charm of Till’s lyrics and the way his poetic nature comes through them never ceases to amaze me. Diamant and Was ich liebe are just perfect songs for a romantic sucker like myself, but songs like that Deutschland, Puppe and Zeig dich are just fucking bangers, man.
AM by Arctic Monkeys — where to begin with this one? I love everything about it. I can listen to it when i miss someone, when i’m aching, yearning, pinning, making love; when i’m feeling lonely, lovesick, heartbroken, hurt ... it’s just a perfect album for every possible scenario. Some of my fav. songs are of course Do I wanna know?, R U mine?, Arabella, Why’d you only call me when you’re high? and I wanna be yours.
i’m tagging whoever still wants to do this! because i saw that most of my friends already got tagged in these, so feel free to participate if you want.
