through some twist of fate i ended up on a 10 year old sega forum thread argument about PSO’s Dark Falz’s gender

here i considered it a timeless soul-sucking horror from the farthest reaches of space, indescribable by human conventions and thus agender, but I guess using Rico as its base makes it female (well, Falz does have the tiddy. horrible, mutated tiddy.)

still really wish that sega would clarify what Flow says before you dunk on him. to my knowledge, it’s the only spoken dialogue in the game? i don’t think that it’s actually “You killed my goddess!” that’s just something that happens to sound like what he said and sorta makes sense

BUT ALSO I'm saddened by Olga Flow's and Heathcliff Flowen's physical similarites; like they've got a sword, blue color scheme, and Olga Flow's even rocking Heathcliff's coat-tails/trenchcoat thing (albeit somewhat shorter) and basically GRANDPA HEATHCLIFF NOOOOOOOOOOO

I'm really entertained by the mental image of like, a party of Hunters having made their way down the elevator, are all haggard from the ordeal of fighting off this big monster from a fast-moving vehicle and are basically all worn out and shaken up when they reach the bottom of the seabed 

in the half-darkness, they see the crumpled form of that big mofo Olga Flow and they're all, "oh shit, is it dead?" and of course the force newearl goes and pokes it with a stick and NOPE, SECOND FORM BITCHES. ROUND TWO. 

Olga Flow really is one of my favorite boss battles in general vidya history, he's got a cool design and he's all ominous and stuff. I just wish that fighting his second form didn't consist of aggressively hacking away at his ankles. Maybe we can fix that with a PSO remake? Ooohh, and maybe have the elevator battle a bit more like a rail-shooting level, that might be cool o3o
