Are there any breeds similar to the sokoke that aim to have the “ticking”/chaos in their pattern? Most breeds tend to want a clear pattern but the idea of the opposite is interesting and also super pretty

The Sokoke has a very striking, visually unique pattern and I can’t say I know of any breed which replicates it but you might like the look of the marble Australian Mist or Bengal.

Still thinking about the update and it’s such a dilemma (being the coming kits of Luna and Flood). There is no true “right” answer to it.

Personally, the fetishization Luna expresses about Flood makes me very uncomfortable, especially seeing as he does not enjoy it/like that she sees him in such a flattened way. So the idea she very strongly feels is “correct” of him abandoning his life, family, friends, to assimilate into a society that would never suit him and absolutely hate him is just not possible. There is no way that would ever work and even in a world in which he agreed it would not end up well (because the city cats do not like clan cats, at all.)

But then to her, this is something they both did, together. And leaving Luna with kits is not fair to her or the kits themselves (also not something I would ever see Flood doing). Theres no way he could provide for them from a distance like brought up in another ask since she’s provided everything by her folk. And I’m not sure how a split custody sorta deal would work since the city cats hate wild cats and everything associated with them.

Most likely, I see this ending with Flood taking them to Risingclan. How it happens though I’m so interested in. I see two ways, the most likely being Luna giving them to him to raise as warriors either to “live by their wild instincts” (how I think she’d see it, yuck vibes) or she sees that them staying in the city is unsafe and give them up for protection-

Or. Evil ending. Things go wrong and Flood has to take them because of the city threatening or even attacking Luna for their origins. Making her a symbol of what happens when city cats mix with warriors, maybe even spin as the warriors coming in and taking the kits for themselves. Again evil terrible option that will set back the little amount of neutrality the clans have with the city cats by a lot. But also drama.

Very intrigued by wherever it will go! Loving the discussion and how mature it is if that makes sense? These are two young cats in a very difficult situation who made an impulse decision and now have to deal with it in whatever way they will. Even in a better world, where the city cats and clans were less hostile, it’s still a hard situation to find a solution for which makes it all the more interesting

And thanks! That's what I was going for, a really shitty situation that could have been avoided but isn't clearly the fault of one party or the other. Unfortunately, sometimes that's just how relationships go.

I’ve been looking through cats as usual and found this girl F1 lykoi outcross with DBE that you posted awhile ago and I just. Why? Like I can’t think of why it would be done? Was it intentional? If it wasn’t intentional does that mean the DBE came from her lykoi side? Are lykois using DBE?? Theres just so much that makes me question. Is there anymore information about her that you know of and if not about her, whether lykoi breeders are using DBE?

I don’t know why but the idea of that is so shocking to me. Im not sure what gene of course but agh the ethical part of putting both lykoi and DBE on a cat just. Gets me. (With the links to deafness that comes from some DBE, tho im not sure if it’s all DBE genes or not!! Please correct if I’m wrong!)

Yes, it was intentional I regret to report… and they’re not the only ones breeding them, either. It sounds like the trait was brought in using Topaz cats. It looks like those genes are DBE-ALT or DBE-CEL and homozygous DBE-ALT or DBE-ALT/DBE-CEL have been associated with deafness.

That particular breeder has a reputation, honestly. She’s even blocked from a lot of social media groups & pages for the breeds she works with.

I’ve never felt more happy for a cat couple lmao but they are so well!! Little note but I like how more open Scorch is with her affection and feelings. She’s really growing. Her having her boundary respected was wonderful too but also the note of Yarrow also having his own needs, and them communicating then and there !!!!! It’s just so good I’m so happy for them

Goldie kittens as well? I am so excited to see how that happens with her and Scorch. Where they come from. Everything. Never saw it in her future but aaaaagagah

She is growing! I'm so proud! It's almost like living in an environment where you feel safe and accepted allows you to be more open about how you feel!

I haven’t been on the YarrowScorch train as much, purely out of not thinking about it lol, but I am so interested in how it goes.

If they did get together they’d both have a lot of issues to work on but I think it could work. Yarrow would (and probably will) have to address his self blame over Night. And Scorch has. A lot. But of anycat Yarrow would be like the best, because he is so easygoing and non questioning. He’s not pushy or overthinking just a big lover boy. Them as friends is still cute too, and I dont know about Yarrow in a relationship just yet with his grief.

I may be misremembering but I feel like a LONGGG time ago you said that Yarrow grieved for a very long time or even until his death over Night? Tho I may be mistaken

I did love the moment when Goldie and Yarrow clicked at what Scorch meant but they still really didn’t care (well not in the way Scorch thought they’d care)

Already imagining Russet’s reaction to a poly announcement between the three with his opinions lol he would be such a hater

I can't remember but I think that even if I did say he was grieving Nightfrost for a long time that it definitely wasn't anywhere close to 'until his death'. He's probably at least mechanically come out of mourning by now. Like it probably still hits him sometimes but it's been almost a year, he's been moving on for a while now.

If you’re open to saying, but how much planning did it take before tackling this project? While playing you’ve mentioned taking notes but during did you think of the whole Razor/Sardine/City Cats conflict or did that come later? What made you go down that route of conflict?

I don’t mean to like pry or anything I’m just very interested in the process that created such an amazing story! And also personally piecing together my own lore and story for a personal project. you’re writing is just amazing in how you can both make a very readable but still be expressive and humanizing of your characters. Sometimes I really enjoy more ‘flowery’ stories but they can get kinda lost in the expressions/words and hard to read. Anyways! Loved the latest moons despite the sadness they brought as a Sagetooth stan (I love me some stuck in their ways old ladies <333)

I actually didn't do ANY planning before I started, not really. I only ever planned RisingClan about a month or so out when I got started. I didn't even know who Ghost was or what his deal was when I introduced him. It was through writing and getting to know my characters, namely Scorch, that I started to develop Razor and the city.

I had several rogue events last year and this year so I knew I needed to create a group of rogues and I also knew I needed a reason why Ghost didn't join the Clan and why Scorch acts the way that she does and they all just kind of synthesized into the story I have today.

These days I usually plan about a year out in vague ideas and then make more detailed plans for the next month or two as I write them.

I've also been playing a new clan gen game (using the full genetics mod cause I adore it) that I'm planning to use for my next story after RisingClan reaches its natural ending and I'm being a bit more intentional and thoughtful with it, adding motives or extra details to my notes and even banishing a cat at one point. But that's years in the future, so don't worry about that just yet haha.

Anyway, I hope that answers your question!

I don’t particularly see what you’re referring to but the cat does have an inbreeding coefficient of over 45% so that is likely the cause of any type-yness or line heavy traits you’re picking up on.
