Ridiculous. Of all the ideas Giselle has had this month, visiting a man she claims not to be her brother --in Vice of all places -- is the worst yet. She's better than this, above dwelling on a past life, isn't she? Yes, she is, because Giselle had remembered her resolve right before she'd knocked on Christian's door, forced herself to turn around, and sworn to go immediately home. Unfortunately, she only makes it as far as the Shopping District before noticing one of Christian's boyfriends strolling down the street. Shit. Could today get any worse?
With a desperate flourish, Giselle all but spins into The Corner Hub, as if she's in an action film and on the run. Perhaps not nearly as gracefully as she quite literally crashes into one of the employees, but hey, anyone is better than the mess she's avoided outside. "I'm so sorry, I'm ... having a dizzy spell, I just need a --"
It's been eighteen years since he'd abandoned her at a time so mortifying that to this day Giselle still hasn't managed to let anyone other than Christian close enough to tell, but those eyes are woefully scarred in her memory. Five years since he returned out of nowhere and she'd refused to listen to a word he said, claiming she didn't even remember him. It had been a torrent of emotions, then. Relief that he hadn't been dead, humiliation that there was finally confirmation he really had just grown bored of her, a wave of indecision that threatened to swallow her. Now, as she stumbles to shove herself away from Oliver Bharrat, she's wracked with a wave of guilt, followed by resentment. Why should she feel guilty for doing whatever it took to design a life where she was worth being kept around? "No, -- I-I ... Nevermind, they have everything I need across the bridge."
