Mother’s Day Brunch

With finals having just come to a close and all of the grading that needed to be done, Sophia had practically forgotten about Mother’s Day. It wasn’t until the other morning when Danielle had brought it up that the woman even remembered the ‘holiday’ was just right around the corner. As per their tradition, they went to ‘Ma Petit’ for brunch. And this year, Effie suggested that Oliver joined the group for brunch. He’d tagged along before but as their relationship became more strained, thin lines were drawn in the sand of the ‘family’ dynamics. But as things were momentarily ‘seemingly normal’, Sophia granted the request. Now it was a matter of getting everyone out of the house in a timely matter for their 11:30 reservation. To Sophia, that was a late start to the day, but she did have a consistent sleep schedule. So, once she got up, she began brewing coffee, that could help at least perk up Danielle and Maia up and it would be something she could offer up Oliver when he arrived to their household.
And of course, morning chaos already ensued. Maia woke up early feeling ill, so Sophia whipped her up a quick breakfast and had to convince her daughter that it was a bad idea for her to join them. And the young girl did eventually sulk back to her room. By around 10:30 Oliver had joined her, and it was time to begin her rounds. First she knocked on Dani’s door, then Effie’s. Both informed her that they’d be up in a second. So, Sophia poured herself another cup of coffee.
“Everyone ready to go?” Sophia called out a few minutes later. They needed to be out the door in ten minutes, or they’d be late.
