Schöne Aussicht in Olpe im Siegerland
The Siegerland is a region, covering the district of Siegen-Wittgenstein in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Northwestern Germany and the upper part of the Altenkirchen district of Rheinland-Pfalz. Geologically, it belongs to the Rhenish Slate Mountains). Its highest elevation is the Riemen, at 678 m above sea level.
The region around the city of Siegen includes the municipalities of Hilchenbach, Netphen, Kreuztal, and Freudenberg, and the communities of Wilnsdorf, Burbach, and Neunkirchen, all in Nordrhein-Westfalen, and in Rheinland-Pfalz, Kirchen, Herdorf, Betzdorf, and Daaden. The population is approximately 300,000.
The region also has a dialect — Siegerländisch which is spoken by many of its inhabitants.
