Do you think publishers gaslit SC into SOTR? Was it a cash grab?

I think it was a Lionsgate order - they SAW that the TBOSAS movie was a semi success and that people were indeed interested in HG franchise, they did order Collins to write another book for their next hit movie.

The fact that the movie was announced right in the same day as the book, how heavy the marketing campaign was and how little descriptions the book contained while introducing more “action film” sequences told me everything I needed to know.

Although I do believe that some parts of SOTR were indeed ghostwritten and not fully controlled by Collins, yet the fact that it was literally designed to be appealing to everyone (aka mostly casual fans who are loving emotions and don’t think about the plot) cannot be ignored.

How do you feel about the parallels between snowbaird and haydove?

I think it made everything way worse - we already had a boy who was in love with a bright amazing Covey girl (and don’t think Haymitch’s love was AS genuine as many love to say - because he also idealized Lenore Dove like crazy and I wouldn’t call it a pure pure love)

Because of the story’s *insistance* of hammering endless Snowbaird parallels and at the meantime attempting to create a more “healthy” version of it, Haydove ended up as incredibly fake, generic, shallow and no interesting ways to explore whatsoever (since what is there to explore if the narrative insists the relationship is already perfect)

Not many accept that, but Snowbaird worked because it was unhealthy and Snow was plain terrible.

Haydove works… It doesn’t work at all, not in the book format and I don’t think it will work in the movie.

Is lenore dove a main character or side character in sotr?

Looking at her *actual* screentime and not Haymitch endlessly yapping about her, or the role she played in the book (which is none, since if you remove her from the plot nothing changes) I… would say she is barely a character.

Do you think katniss and coryo are similar ?

Oh, very much. Not only are their narratives similar, they both went through the very same thing (hunger), only learned completely different lessons.

Possibly unpopular opinion, but Snow saw more of himself in Katniss than of Lucy Gray, and possibly that was one of the reasons he held such a twisted respect for her.

do you have any headcanons for the sotr tribute from d6? or, if not, any d6 headcanons in general?

1. For the SOTR tributes barely bc I think they deserved better, but:

- Miles while asthmatic, was heavily bullied at school for his love for origami as well, as it is a supposedly girl hobby.

- Velo is the oldest of her three siblings and worked as a waitress in a cafe, since she was rather pretty, with her having a stable life with a boyfriend and school, trying to keep up the positive attitude.

- Atread once walked so far on railroads that he had to be tackled by a Peacekeeper, which earned him a whipping, a night in a cell and a rigged reaping.

- Wellie’s older brother stole the bicycle she rode from a more richer part of D6, only keeping the bell as a good luck charm. When she was picked for the reaping, he rang the bell over and over, begging to be reaped instead - this bell ended up to be Wellie’s token.

Snow whining about persephone is honestly the funniest running gag in ballad. Bro...look at your own awful personality before wondeirng whether she has descended from a cannibal

Like I can’t blame him for being traumatized, but Persephone most likely had no idea what the heck her broth even was.

And I agree it was funny AF when every time he saw Persephone, it was always “CANNIBAL, CANNIBAL”, even when she was the friendliest girl ever.

Which thg character do you relate the most to?

I can say it’s between Lucy Gray and Katniss, but mostly Katniss for her detached, somewhat autistic personality (closed off and usually angry, focused on survival)
