Olympic Prep Challenge, Day 6: Favourite Olympic costumes
So, first of all, I cheated. There's 11 here and the last photo? Not from the Olympics, though they are the same costumes... but it's probably overall, my favourite costume of Tessa's ever.
Second, I bet there are way, way more. But these are basically, 2010 and 2014, because I remember them most.
Third, it turns out that I favour specific things: bold colours, exquisite details, flawless design.
Fourth, it's really all about the women. I can end up hating a costume because of the man's, but mostly it fades into the background for me.
1. Domnina/Shabalin, 2010, CD. Her business suit turned sexy tango was a bold choice. He rocked a Pulp Fiction-esque look.
2. Yuna Kim, 2014, SP. The colour was unusual, the beading was gorgeous, and sleeves a soft contrast.
3. Klimova/Ponomarenko, 1992, FD. The dramatic wings added the flair, the unitard emphasized her long legs into eternity. He was a little floofy but very in the times, and a good contrast to her clean lines.
4. Yuna Kim, 2010, SP. Geometric pattern, a little mod, and perfect for a James Bond theme.
5. Pechelat/Bourzat, 2010, CD. Funky pattern, matching headscarf and a tie for him. Very unlike anyone else during this tango romantic pattern, and standing out for me in the process.
6. Cappellini/Lanotte, 2014, SD. Anna found a silhouette that really works for her and loves to use it as often as possible -- but since it works can we really complain? Simple, in character, classic.
7. Illinykh/Katsalapov, 2014, FD. Warhorse music, and a relatively typical costume, but oh my, do they pull it off.
8. Valentina Marchei, 2014, SP. Unusual style that caught my attention. Bonus Julia Lipnitskaya in the background, whose costume may have been rather controversial along with her program, but the styling was memorable.
9. Illinykh/Katsalapov, 2014, SD. Nothing to do with their program, but absolutely gorgeous anyway, and with a sparkling accessory.
10. Virtue/Moir, 2014, SD. The detailing on the bust, and the way the skirt popped when she moved was amazing - the picture of Tessa mid-lift with the skirt in a perfect circle is awesome. Scott rocked suspenders.
11. Virtue/Moir, 2010, CD. The beading, the belt, the flow of the tulle... perfection.
