NOT HERE
BEN HAS NEVER BEEN forthcoming with his past. and seteth knows that what little he’s given has been lies to cover secrets. they are both men whose truths are buried six feet under the earth, to be swallowed and consumed as nutrients until they are no more.
but the object ben has presented him . . . well, seteth can’t well say that it’s very fair he can’t ask for an explanation. all he showed him was how it worked, nothing about where it comes from. but he’s wary, now, and his stomach rolls. the technology reminds him too much of the agarthans. how advanced they were, how because of their hubris they were cast down.
and perhaps it’s not fair of him to expect ben to come forward about his past and origins when he won’t even touch on the topic of himself.
❝ i suppose i should explain myself first . . . if we are to be more honest with each other . . . if we are to . . . ❞ his voice tapers off.
he knows how closed ben is, how REPRESSED he is. he struggled, even, to simply allow himself to call them FRIENDS. to be considered MORE would be too much for him he suspects.

Anakin had lost count of time. It had been more than a few weeks since they arrived on this planet, tired and weary from running. From everything. It had been hard, at first, to push himself. The conviction he had felt toward fighting the Empire fizzled out in the onslaught of his overwhelming grief. Anakin supposed that hadn’t really changed, but it had become the quiet backdrop. Something he could ignore and put aside until it eventually ate him alive. The usual way of things since he never could release his feelings into the Force. As they said, time healed wounds. Or at least they made them more bearable. So, Anakin trudged on.
If he was a lot more stoic or short-tempered, it was understandable.
He wasn’t Anakin Skywalker, anymore. He was just a mechanic. A young, one-eyed mechanic who kind of looked like the hero from the Holonet, but couldn’t be. He didn’t speak Huttese and spit curse words and fit in too well with spice runners and smugglers. How else was he supposed to make any kind of money?
They weren’t going to stay long, or so he kept telling himself.
“I hate this place,” Anakin announced as he entered their ramshackle cabin. The roof leaked during the sporadic, sudden downpours. A heavy dampness clung to the interior. “I know I say that every day, but I do. Maybe if we gather enough credits while we’re here, we can take our leave and set up shop somewhere else.”
olyteus replied to your post “he deserves to be bullied.”

A SHORT , DISBELIEVING LAUGH , and anakin casts a glance toward his best friend . ( his rock . were it not for obi - wan , he doubts he'd have been able to survive the clones turning on them , doubts he'd have been able to make it back to padmé . ) after all these years — the time he spent training anakin , raising anakin ; the way they worked together during the war , able to best any enemy so long as they were together ; the way they survived the end of the war and the beginning of the empire and every mission against the tyrannical government that seeks to destroy them — after all that , obi - wan still thinks he is not one with the world ?
it's almost as if he's never seen the way the twins beg for his attention — and anakin knows that to be untrue , has seen the immediate way obi - wan relents when one of them wants to be picked up . it's almost as if he's not been there , night after night , when their family — which includes obi - wan , because it's always included obi - wan — sits up late , curled up against each other , laughing so hard at a memory that their stomachs hurt , or crying over that same memory until their throats are raw . how can obi - wan have experienced the depth of love that they each hold for him and think that he could ever hold himself apart from it ?
but he supposes he shouldn't be surprised — obi - wan has always been like this . has always been unable to see what's right in front of him , what's so clearly obvious to everyone else . ( all those times that he's exasperatedly asked anakin where he learned some frustrating trait or another , when anyone could see that he learned almost everything he knows from obi - wan . ) so anakin simply leans over , rests his arm on his best friend's shoulder with an amused grin . ❝ okay , obi - wan . if you say so . oh — by the way , you can't skip out on dinner tonight , i promised leia that you'd tell her about that time on alaris . ❞ a glint of mischief in his eyes . ❝ y'know , the seventh time i saved your life . i'd hate for you to let her down and not be able to tell her about it , she seemed very interested . ❞

❛ the fire and the pain will now be coming to an end. ❜ -- @olyteus
won’t that be a first for you? the pain coming to an end? it was almost the first thing off her lips, but instead padme smiled before she reached over and took his hand in both of hers. she gave his hand a soft, warm squeeze. “i hope you know that even though the war is done, you’re still a part of the family obi-wan. don’t think you can just sneak off and try to retire to a life of solitude, and contemplation. it’s not happening,” she warned him.
“i mean the twins would just be so sad if their uncle obi left, and you know, where would anakin and i ever get a baby-sitter for date night,” she joked.

ANGER , HOT AND SEDUCTIVE , thrums through their veins when they see him . there is , of course , the momentary disbelief , the briefest instant of wondering if they have finally gone mad — but no . it's true . there stands OBI - WAN KENOBI , looking fairly worse for wear , but alive . obi - wan is alive . he is living , breathing — not dead , then . ( not that the council deigned to tell them of his demise , of course ; no , aayla had to find them and break the news . ) ( they don't know if it would have been better or worse to have heard from the holovids — but at least aayla could hold them through their pain . )
they stride over to him , plant themself directly in his line of sight with their arms crossed . they do not say a word ; all they do is stand there , staring at him . a hurricane of emotion swirls underneath their placid surface . ( the agony of having to mourn one of the few people they still feel truly connected to , the fear of loss that is ever - present inside them , the joy that he is alive and here , the anger that he didn't tell them . ) the look on their face does not need translation : it says , very clearly , explain yourself .

❝ i’ll tell you a story sometime. ❞ -- @olyteus
Leia’s big brown eyes went to his face, a pout pulling at her lips. “Why not now?” she asked, “Obi, why can’t we have a story now?” True she could just go to Threepio for a story ( and often did ), tonight she wanted a story from Obi. “Please Obi, just one story, then Luke and I will go right to sleep. We promise,” Leia said, speaking for her brother as she so often did.
