Reposted from @cdn_creative . . Throughout this pandemic I've been going kind of wild with my reimagining of the town centre of Croydon. About two years ago a developer converted this old BT office (Delta Point) into flats. . . The facade was tired and there was an opportunity to change the colour maybe having panels of floor to ceiling glass or a variety of colours and textures. They did change it but to the exact same design only a darker grey. Tbh to them it's an exercise in maximising profit but as a significant building on the skyline and a dull one I felt disappointed. . . The other day I was thinking the Wellesley Rd side especially has a concave form a bit like Mount Rushmore. I chose to add what could be a wrap or painted on design featuring a halftone of @raye and @omar_lyefook. Although not colourful it adds something to look at while waiting for the tram, bus or passing by on foot or on private transport. . . This could alternatively look like a natural form such as a mountain or giant tree with the area around it being covered in a mirrored surface to reflect the sky further strengthening the look. As great as mirrored buildings are unfortunately they're unethical due to birds being killed by striking them. . . Most importantly it adds uses this unutilised surface as a way to celebrate people from the area and add a sense of pride. This could use a glow in the dark paint to extend it's viewing hours so you don't have to have spotlights shining to apartments.
