{Falling Down | peko&hinata}
Sometimes it was refreshing to go outside. Peko liked to watch the birds... Although she wouldn’t be able to pet their feathers, it still helped a little to admire animals from a distance. The wind picked up around her, leaves dancing and rattling against the ground by her feet and braids swaying with the breeze. Peaceful... For the time being. After being stuck inside various classrooms throughout the day, it was enjoyable to take a walk outside the walls of the academy. It was getting a little chilly out... Which was most likely the reason why the path around the school was practically deserted.
She’d been studying hard and training hard lately, so she felt that she was deserving of a little fresh air and relaxation. If only just for five minutes or so. She let her mind wander and she ambled around the school, paying attention only to the rhythmic sounds of her footsteps and the feeling of the air against her skin.
This simple, easy feeling was short lived, though, when she heard the clatter and then thump of something not too far behind her on the path. She whirled around on her heels, eyes widening just a little as her hand moved instinctively towards the practice sword she always wore on her back. Before she could swing it out or actually injure anyone, however, she noticed that the sounds coming from behind her were caused from a classmate of hers. He’d fallen to the ground and dropped all of his belongings, it seemed.
Realizing how crazy or threatening she might have looked, on the verge of pulling her sword out, she slowly moved her hand away from the shinai on her back and wrapped her arms around herself instead, feeling somewhat silly at having thought she would have to resort to such a drastic action. She inched towards him slowly and cautiously before kneeling down in front of him.
“That was quite a fall. Are you unharmed?” She asked in a level, almost robotic tone, ignoring the fact that if she hadn’t been more attentive, she probably would have smacked him over the head with her bamboo sword. She reached over to grab a few of his fallen books before extending her free hand out towards him, as to help him back up on his feet.
