It’s forbidden, according to the laws society’s laid down. But it’s not like he cared. He couldn’t help himself, anyways; it was how he felt, how could he just roll over and allow what others say to change how he feels?
Baby, when we’re touching in the dark,
Can you feel it?
I can hear the pounding of my heart…
Can you feel it?
It was his brother he felt this way to. Why? Why his brother? Why Pod, of all people? The redhead was arrogant, loud, and sometimes rather rude, but…He didn’t really seem to care most times. The arrogance gets him looking, the loudness gets him listening, and…well, of course Pod isn’t always impolite.

But if there was one thing he couldn’t stand about Pod, it was the boy’s frustration and sadness whenever he lost. He always seemed to be the one who lost the most, and many a night, Pod would rave about losing for the umpteenth time. It tore his heart to shreds to have to see or hear it happen. At one point, Pod had run away, tired of losing. And it was his fault, too. The guilt was overwhelming him, to where he broke down when he didn’t see the redhead busting through the door, his usual cheery self.
Come, take me by the hand.
Wanna cross the line?
Baby, go ahead,
‘Till the morning light,
Watch my silhouette
‘Cause you know tonight
We’re gonna wake the dead.
He could never bring himself to voice it to his brother. After all, what would he say? Just be blunt about it or just blurt it out after veering off the subject?
He held his head in his hands, tears threatening to overwhelm him. “Why…?” he whispered, his voice choked. “Why must Corn be such a coward…?”
He wanted to tell him badly, but the fear of being laughed at or outright rejection consumed him more so. A terrible feeling it was that sunk in the minute he finally got the courage to finally ask him, and he’d usually say “Never mind”, and would resume what he was doing.
Get a little bit wrong,
Get a little bit wild,
Get a little bit high off of this love tonight…
Get a little bit raw,
Come a little undone,
Get a little bit reckless,
I can’t get enough!
There were these vivid dreams that often haunted him in his sleep…At times, he found himself praying that they weren’t dreams, but rather reality, and that he’d find Pod laying on top of him, sound asleep. There wasn’t a day he went by when he awoke, only to be disappointed and not see his brother there. He wasn’t sure what felt worse, the guilt he felt when Pod took off, or when he was left alone in his bed.

“Hey, Corn!”
The sudden voice caused the blue-haired male to jump a bit, his head quickly rising in surprise. “Huh??”
“Come on, dude, those orders aren’t gonna fill themselves,” Pod told him impatiently, crossing his arms.
“Oh…Right, sorry…” Corn slowly stood, and walked away from the barstool. Yet another time he’d considered telling him, gone in a mere second…He was surprised that Pod hadn’t noticed him crying. Then again, Pod never usually paid attention to stuff like that…Not when it came to his crybaby of an older brother…

Sometimes, minutes became hours, and hours became days; but other times, those minutes became hours that dragged their heels. Today was one of the days when time was dragging its feet, and Corn was thinking the Gym would never close. Pod yawned as his Baoppu climbed upon his shoulders. Today was surprisingly easy; the challengers either had Tsutarja or Pokabu as their accompanying Pokémon, new trainers who didn’t know you weren’t supposed to just have one Pokémon with you.
Come, take me in the night.
I feel it in my blood,
Want the darker side.
Baby, when we touch,
Look me in the eyes.
Poison me with love,
I’ll bring you back to life!
Pod turned to his brother. “So, what was eating you earlier?” he asked Corn. The blue-haired Trainer turned to his brother, confused. “You looked upset, bro. What’s happening?”
Corn sighed heavily. He dreaded this moment, it was awkward as hell, and they went through this every time Corn felt the way he did. “It’s nothing, Pod…” he lied. “It’s just a daydream…”
Usually, Pod would say, “Well, if you say so”, then walk off. But this time, he said sternly, “Corn, you’ve been feeling like this for a week now. If you don’t tell me what’s going on, I swear to Arceus, I may have to take drastic measures.”
The tone in Pod’s voice shocked Corn; he was never usually like this with him, only when Corn had apparently gotten him angry first.
“Why would you care, anyways? Isn’t Corn simply your crybaby of an older brother?” he shot back. He sounded harsh, and he hadn’t intended to.
“That’s just it! You’re my brother! Crybaby or not, I still care for you!” He gripped Corn’s shoulders tightly, like the time he did when he claimed he was running away.
Similarly, Corn looked at him in shock, but then turned his gaze downwards. The words actually touched him more than Pod would ever know.

“Corn, are you daydreaming again?” Pod yelled. “Snap out of it!”
Corn heaved another sigh before looking back at Pod. “It’s not as easy to explain as you may think…” he answered.
“What’re you talking about?” he asked. His grip relaxed just a bit, and Corn slunk away a bit.
“Well…You know how when two people care very much for each other, and can’t exactly bring themselves to express it…?”
“Sorta, but what’s your point?” By now, the two were half a foot away from each other, Corn’s hands fidgeting nervously, Pod’s arms crossed over his chest. There was an awkward silence before Corn finally was able to muster up the courage to do anything. He slowly approached his brother. Pod looked at him strangely as Corn took his brother’s hands into his own.
“Well?” Pod asked, casually awaiting a response. Corn sighed, and looked down once again. He couldn’t believe what he did next.
Baby, when we’re touching in the dark,

Corn quickly smashed his lips into Pod’s own, earning a surprised, muffled yelp from the redhead. Pod’s eyes widened in surprise, unable to believe what his brother was doing – Corn was kissing him, the way lovers would do. Why, though? They were brothers; this wasn’t what brothers were supposed to do!

The whole moment felt surreal, a daydream that seemed out of place. Pod eventually felt himself cave in, and shut his eyes. He returned the kiss before their contact broke, a thin string of saliva being the only thing that connected their mouths, which Corn quickly dissolved when he covered his mouth in horror, his eyes wide with a matching expression. Pod, still dazed from the initial touch of their lips, blinked in surprise as he tried to gather his surroundings once again. “Wha…?” was the only thing he could muster up as a rebuttal.
Yet another awkward silence before Corn finally cried out, “S-sorry!”
Pod quickly shook his head, trying to break himself from his stupor. “What?”
But just as quickly, Corn rushed off. “That…that shouldn’t have happened!” he wailed, his footsteps resonating as he dashed down the halls to his room.
“H-hey, wait! Corn, come back!” Pod dashed after his brother in shock. He was still trying to recall what’d happened – last he remembered, they were trying to talk about what was wrong with Corn, and then…Corn kissed him? Was that what happened?

By the time he’d gotten to where he’d seen his brother run off to, Pod had already lost sight of him. “Corn, where are you?!” he hollered, Baoppu chiming in with its own call. But there was no response from Corn. Pod sighed, and knocked on the door to Corn’s room. And he could hear his brother in tears yet again. This was the second time that night that’d happened. Pod’s brows furrowed as he and Baoppu cautiously opened the door. What he saw next might have been somewhat beautiful had Corn not been crying.
Corn had his knees drawn up to his chest, securely held in place by his arms. His head buried into his thigh, hiding his pretty face. The moonlight was hitting the man where he seemed almost ethereal…like a beautiful, weeping angel…
Pod slowly brought himself over, his Baoppu retreating out the door. “Corn…?” the redhead stammered.
Corn quickly looked up at him, his only visible eye bloodshot and puffy. “What…?” he asked, a tad harshly.
“Is that’s what’s been bugging you so much…?”
“Corn doesn’t understand what you mean…”
“You kissed me, dude…How does one not understand that?”
Corn huffed. “What, that…?” was his only answer. “That was just…” He paused, trying to find the right words, and finding himself unable to.
“A way you wanted to prove it?” Pod finished for him, with a tilt of his head and a grin.
“…Not the words Corn would have chosen, but yes…” he answered.
“Hey…it’s okay, Corn…You shouldn’t feel bad about it…”
“Pod, we’re brothers! It shouldn’t have happened!” Corn exclaimed, finally whipping his head around towards his brother, his brows furrowed.
“So what if we are? If society deems it wrong, it’s their loss. You may be a crybaby, but you’re my brother.” Pod was unusually calm about this…

“What…what are you saying…?” Corn asked him, slowly turning to face him completely.
Pod set his hand upon Corn’s own, bringing himself closer. “You may be my brother, but…”
He stared in confusion before it finally hit him, his eyes widening a bit. “Wait…You mean you…?!”
Pod nodded. “I love you, Corn…” he answered.
Tears filled Corn’s eyes as he embraced his brother, sobbing gratefully into his shoulder. Pod chuckled as he rubbed Corn’s back. “You’re such a crybaby…” he whispered, bringing Corn’s face up and kissing his tears away.
Corn suddenly stopped him, looking at him with a smile. “You missed, silly…~” he giggled, wiping his eyes.
“Huh?” Pod blinked a bit, wondering just what his brother meant. Corn leaned in again, bringing his lips in gently towards his brother’s own. Pod had no objections this time, shutting his eyes in anticipation, waiting for the sweet taste of his brother’s lips.
