It’s not a body bag they’re cutting open to let him out. IT’S A FUCKING MAIL SACK. If you pause the scene on just the right frame, you can see that it says AUSTRALIA POST with a little “tampering with the mail is a federal offence” warning below the zipper.
THEY SHOVED BOOMERANG IN A POSTAL SERVICE BAG. AND SHIPPED HIM TO BELLE REVE IN IT. HE WENT FROM AUSTRALIA TO LOUISIANA IN A WATERPROOFED CANVAS SACK. NO WONDER HE CAME OUT OF IT LIKE HE DID.
