Just a heads up, our favorite webcomic author ngozi is going to be at anime expo in july!
Yes! Good point!
Anime Expo is July 1-4th and is held at the LA Convention Center downtown. The main organizers of this group don’t currently have plans to attend the con (*sideeyes last year’s long lines and overcrowding*) but we’ll keep you posted. If anyone wants to take point on organizing a meetup at the con we will support the hell out of that!
Relevant to our interests! You can purchase tickets through the NHL site or find cheaper (shirtless) options at sites like Seat Geek. A few of us plan on attending so maybe we can organize a mini meetup before or after the game depending on the level of interest. Let us know if you’re going or if you have any questions.
First of all, thanks for attending out first ever meetup! We tried our best at knife shoeing, had some food, and got to know each other though our love of fictional hockey boyfriends. What more could you ask for?
@belislythindor brought this fantastic sign!
Find each other! @nostalgickitty/@trapped-in-gay-hockey-hell, @pieandpucks/@belislythindor, @uglyasanalibi, @vagina-metaphors, @lauralex, @thehausisquiet, @checksiltuplais, @oonabashed, @nomette, @gatonamo, @werehavingapie, @fressah and ceilingcampout (Twitter)
We have tentative plans to attend a college hockey game in January and to hit up a pie shop in March. So stay tuned!
Attention Check, Please! fans in and around Los Angeles! Join us for our very first meetup! ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
WHERE: Holiday Ice Rink in Pershing Square, DTLA
WHEN: Sunday, November 13th at 11AM
We’ll skate from 11:30-12:30 then grab food nearby. Look for Samwell gear to locate us. Will there be cookies? Probably.
Please help us signal boost this event and group, even if you don’t live in the area. Thanks! (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و
See under the cut for details
The skating session is 1 hour long and costs $9 for entry, $4 for skate rentals, and $3 for locker rental. We can coordinate locker sharing. It’s an outdoor rink so dress for the probably totally mild weather. Don’t forget socks. Note: the website does not have their skating windows listed yet so timing is subject to change. If skating is not your thing, feel free to show up around 12:30 for the post-knife shoe portion of the day.
Pershing Square is easily accessible by Metro. If driving, there is a parking garage beneath the square.
After our skating session is over, we will find food, have a sit, and chat about our favorite webcomic. Likely food options: food trucks parked around Pershing Square, or walking to Grand Central Market. We’ll play it by ear.
As a courtesy, please RSVP by replying, messaging us or sending us an ask so we know how many to expect. (You may get a response from @lauralex, @vagina-metaphors or @uglyasanalibi because this is a sideblog and we’re not 100% sure how messaging on sideblogs work, whoops.) Feel free to ask any questions or make suggestions. (^^)b
