This is a several layer work. First, I found three blank jersey templates and redesigned the Metros/Raiders/Admirals jerseys into a pride format. I then found a reference pic of three men standing next to each other wearing jerseys. I used inkscape to photoshop the jerseys onto the reference pic, and then photoshopped Hudson, Connor, and Francois's faces into place.
I then ran it through my process of playing with vectorising/lighting/overlaying watercolour textures and stock images, isolating the lines, drawing in more lines (don't look too closely at their numbers or their feet because I almost messed them up a few times). I blurred the letters because it's meant to look like a painting, I removed the lines from the Raiders icon because it was too busy, and then overlaid everything.
Believe it or not, the reflection on the ice was the hardest part of this. And if you still fucking think this is AI, just go ahead and block me already because I'm over trying to prove myself to everyone.

REALLY GOOD SIGN
A random fact I learned today that added to my growing respect for Klingy (thanks to this post):
Backed up by this article I also found online:
Last June, I proclaimed Braden Holtby the one true ally of the LGBT community BUT there is another!
John Klingberg, from the Dallas Stars, has been one of the biggest allies for the LGBT+ community. Last night was Hockey Is For Everyone Night in Dallas and this man was out in full support. Not only did Klingberg rock the Pride Tape, he put the pride tape up his stick shaft. Not just the Pride flag, but the Bi Pride flag as well (my small Bi heart is crying). Klinger kept the tape on during the game as well which most players don’t and that meant so much to more than just me. John also sat down with Billy, an executive Board member from You Can Play. You can see how much Klinger wants to help and that means the world to LGBTQ+ kids like me.
x
I see you, Ally King.

*(there’s no Orca emoji ok we have to use our imaginations)
I spent a long time feeling so much shame about who I was. Funny enough, the first time I ever felt recognized was pride tape at an NHL game. I never played any hockey, but my favorite player rocked it that day. I came out to my parents that day. My mother was pretty upset. Years later after experimenting throughout college, I found a job through my graduate degree that celebrated who I was and what made me, me. I got to fight for the very things that helped me find my way. It took me so long to be proud of my LGBT identity because of the shame I felt from my parents and not feeling like alot of the community. Now it’s one of the things that makes me authentic and proud of what I do. It’s so hard and it sucks sometimes, but there is so much love and light at the end of the tunnel.
so glad to hear how that turned around for you and how you were able to channel energy through your job <3
funny you mention Pride hockey tape. there's a brand called Renfrew Pro that makes rainbow Pride tape, and throughout the past few years they've donated a portion of the proceeds to our organization during Pride month! maybe the rainbow tape is still out there inspiring people like it did for you :')
