So, I recently hit a bit of a burnout. Art block was REAL, and my mental health was... uh... questionable at best. All my free time was just vanishing into the doomscroll void. Then, on TikTok, I stumbled across a Captain Laserhawk edit, and I remembered I'd been putting off watching it forever. I was like, "Okay, it's time." I binged it hard, recommended it to all my friends, and went on a hunt for content. That's when the disappointment hit. I was completely obsessed with this franchise and Dolph himself, but the fandom is basically dead, and there's no real news about a Season 2.

Also, I'm a total merch fiend, especially for artist-made stuff, and I was super bummed to find out there's basically none. So, guess I gotta take matters into my own hands!

So, I've got, like, zero experience sewing plushies, even less with omodokitype. No access to a sewing machine either. BUT, what I do have is the power of hyperfixation hahah.

Anyway, here are some WIP pics, and sorry about the mess in my workspace🤧

I spent, like, a WEEK choosing fabrics because, turns out, finding the right skin tone is WAY harder than it should be. 😭 And the material is still a different color than what was advertised. And he's got a wire armature skeleton inside, so I can pose him however I want!

Soooooo, did I mention hyperfixation?

I whipped this guy up in THREE DAYS, and I only spent around 1000 rubles (≈ $12) on materials👀💧

I still haven't made him any clothes yet, but I'm legit obsessed. He's my emotional support plushie now, i think??? I bring him on walks, he even celebrated my birthday with me, and I fall asleep hugging him. I've become so attached to this character; he feels so familiar and important to me that having him around is actually super comforting.

The mickplush.

The mickplush is a fickle recipe that is cooked slowly but steadily. Much like eggs, the edges will likely be a little rough and burnt, but that's part of the crunch.

The mickplush has taken me countless hours, blood sacrifices and mortal possessions. The ritual needle has struck me fingers many a times. The only thing not handmade here are the materials. Had I ever embroidered before? No. The mickplush is 20cm, despite being canonically very short this cook and caster decided she could not settle for anything less than the biggest Mickbell with a conventional recipe she could immortalize. A squeaker to scream with was deemed more important for him to have than bones, thus he alas cannot pose.

The chest symbol has deep meaning indeed. It is something omodokis often possess, and the relevance to the soul they hold is key. Eggs 🔥🙏 His favorite food. I also tried to make the yolk look like a coin (but I forgot the embroidery stabilizer so it ended up getting squished into an oval. I considered making it the pattern we see on male coinbugs but that'd have gone badly). He's a little egg rogue. A little egg thief. An ovi raptor, if you will. 💖 I like to headcanon that eggs are his favorite because they're a very basic but versatile and nutritious ingredient— even with nothing else you can cook it up so many ways. Hardboiled, scrambled, sunny side up, poched… Many many ways to keep the same food feeling fresh and tasty, so if Mick has to choose just one ingredient to have on hand eggs are the hardest to get tired of- and are common enough! I wrote a fic about this a while back actually~
