This year, I'm going to do it! I'm participating in the "Run4Autism" event on the 30th of July at Corkagh Park in Dublin (Ireland)!

My son is autistic, and "As I Am" has greatly helped us over the years, so this cause is important to me.

Directive of Derangement

Sometimes I don't know what to do with my hands. Even my fingertips feel grating like a file's rasp, every groove a tooth and every ridge a grit of sandpaper on a cat's tongue that grips everything I touch. Sometimes its soothing, sometimes I hate my own skin. Clothes become burdens or boons to my day, and even the feeling of sun on my skin or the wind on my face becomes scorching glare or lacerating buffet. Some my first memories were of headphone pads from noise cancelling headphones from a oil drill, the sound of the ocean that roared in the stillness, the smooth slick plastics that made up the pads, the smooth plastics that made them up. I still miss them to this day, I just replaced the ocean with musics of generations. I replaced the memories I had with mistakes I made, and battered my sensitive mitts with battered beaten bear claws, pawing at awkward pauses with fingers weaved like lattices. I have become desensitized to a disorientation of the natural orders, the prime directive of my derangement died to better fit into a world gone mad.

@actuallystimming feel free to use it but here’s an example of my type of stimming. Usually I do this periodically throughout a day (even at work). The two knives here are my favorites because they are small and I usually draw and resheath a bunch too as part of my stim. So needless to say I usually get some goofy looks and people freak out but idk....I can’t fuckin help it.

They are not "Monsters"

I know I don't rant on my blog but I am pretty heated right now about all these articles that keep popping about autism and the way people react when they react to an individual with autism as if they're humans with some type of deadly disease. For those that don't know or haven't heard about autism; autism is a neurological disorder that is commonly found in males. It puts a strain to be able to function like "regular" people making it difficult to properly communicate to others(verbally/nonverbal), control their behaviours that are repetitive, and to be able to do tasks independently.  I'm sorry again for this rant but... I am sick and tired of hearing so many hurtful comments towards autistic individuals, as my brother is autistic. I'm tired of people using the word "retarded" to describe them, to call them monsters, and tell people they don't belong here or even say they don't deserve to live because its a "waste of space". Well...YOUR hurtful comments are a waste and are not needed, thank you. I hear incidents involving an autistic individual over and over again on the news and as I walk and its very hurtful. My youngest brother may be autistic but he has taught me so much about life than what i have learned by meeting so many people in my life and I love him to bits for that. He may not talk often and speak to me in broken sentences but this young boy who I am PROUD to call my brother has changed my whole perspective and helped me be who I am today. Standing up for people that don't have their voice and being THEIR VOICE. My brother is funny, intelligent, handsome, and full of joy/life. I love him. He's my best friend. When I'm sad he automatically changes it by saying "No crying. No Crying" as he wipes my tears away and gives me a hug. People may look at these individuals and think "they have nothing going for them" but I'm sorry to say you're wrong. What many people don't know is that these people have many different skills and talents just as we do. They excel in certain areas where others may lack. They are no different than us. They are human beings! What others may see as "monsters" I see nothing but beauty. I see the beauty of each and every one of them and I want to work with these people in the future as I continue to be inspired and be overcomed with happiness as I experience the growth and improvement in them. I hope I continue inspire others in my community and be a leading voice.
