the biggest understanding gap between the people proposing orbital data centres and laypeople reacting to them is of geometries.
nearly everyone assumes an orbital datacentre will be a large satellite essentially as a whole datacentre in space. it's just what they picture and its upstream of a lot of their doubts and concerns. in reality, the proposals are essentially to have individual server racks as their own satellites, networked and operating together as a "datacentre" in a constellation akin to starlink! it is very hard to cross that understanding gap without derailing a discussion about orbital datacentres, and even when you do people still don't quite adjust their intuitions!
