"I use the dialectical concept of “Inside versus Outside” as a framework to investigate my double identity. Incorporating memories from living and growing up in Iran with my sense of displacement after I left is the basis for this work.

I examine and critique the unstable but strongly governed society of Iran that forced me to present a completely different public persona than what I had in my private life. Despite the increasingly brittle structure and evident deficiencies in Iranian society, the unwelcome power behind continues to direct the behavior of individuals, forcing them to show different selves in public and private."
