thrilling life update (why I am barely active)
kitten apocalypse: 2/4 have been adopted by a kind family friend. remaining 2 are still inside and free roaming but contained to a couple rooms where they can't get into trouble. momma cat still getting fed and lady who took 2 kittens will pay for her to be spayed. (what an absolute sweetheart) 3x orange boys still coming around, we think because of the momma. newly spotted a grey one that looks suspiciously just like the kittens as well. trying to discourage all but the momma and halloween jack from hanging out (he's just so scrawny and has only one eye...he looks like he really badly wants to get closer but can't overcome his fear)
fly apocalypse: I killed over 70 flies in my room in 2 nights. tediously, with a sticky lint roller because there are too many fragile things in there to use a swatter. today we got fly traps. set one up with a desk lamp aimed directly at it and turned off the lights. it caught what must be 50+ more. there are a good 10 or 20 dead on the floor under the window beside it. I don't know how there are this many or how they are in my room. hoping the trap has effectively ended the siege but I worry they could be getting in the window somehow and will thus just replenish if I take the trap down. not a fun plague for a guy with a longtime fear of "what if a bug crawls in your ear and gets stuck at night while you're asleep" but figuring out once the lights are out they congregate at whatever light source they see helped ease my mind.
