I love these things so much. Chinese Gigant Salamanders. They grow to be 6 feet long, live in rivers, and have one singular lung used mainly for buoyancy. One singular lung. One lung used to float. Buoyancy. What a buoyant creature.

The way society views mobility aids of any kind is so weird and fucked up. My grandmother thinks using a walker would make her “look old” (she’s fucking 80) and seem “weak”. 

She has ONE LUNG. It takes two of us to get her to and from her car (or did when we had gatherings) but she gets mad if you dare suggest she try using a walker or wheelchair bc its so fucking ingrained in her mind that if you can get around without one no matter how much of a struggle it is then you shouldn’t have an aid. But using grandkids as makeshift aids is just fine!

The idea that I shouldn’t use a cane when my knee is acting up bc I can walk without it, though in considerable pain, is asinine
