the hospital is quiet .
it’s to be expected , given how early it is - bordering on seven o’clock in the morning , sunshine barely cracking through dull , ivory curtains - & with the children of the wards still asleep , it’s even a little bit peaceful .
he had a shift in—- an hour ago , actually , according to his watch & the nurses glancing in at him from the hall – but none of them had disturbed him , or particularly pressed .
maybe they knew .maybe they didn’t .
but either way —- when sora woke , he did his best to smile , hands shifting through chocolate strands that , along with the rest of him , fell asleep against riku’s lap in a haphazard pile of limbs .
the bed would have been more comfortable - but apparently sora would disagree .

There’s a variety of reasons he’s usually hesitant when it comes to notions of affection—-
