@onebrightflash fortunately it seems like I wasn’t the only one confused by this, as one of the gold students did the exact same thing with shrinking the spacing to get bounces. And at least a couple others questioned it in their threads. I did just join the Facebook group since I forgot that was a thing, and I’ll definitely mention it to the TA so maybe she can pass it on to Sarah. Even though Sarah and I know each other, I also know FDSA is kind of weird about bronze students not contacting the instructors for pretty much any reason....
After reading a few more threads and responses, it seems like “balance” in this grid is what matters more than specifically taking a stride or bouncing. My current interpretation is that that means if the dog can, with ease, produce centered jumping arcs over each jump, then they can stride, bounce, or switch back and forth. If the jumping arcs aren’t balanced, then adjustments need to be made. Either to the dog’s starting position, the grid spacing, or both.
For Chandra specifically, I’m guessing I’ll have to adjust the spacing so she produces a stride in each space since I think she needs to learn to add strides and not leave them out and launch herself just because she can.
But yeah...I’ll definitely mention this to the TA since it would be really nice to have this info as part of the lecture instructions and not trying to piece it together from the gold threads.
