THESE MEMORIES COME BACK TO HAUNT ME // JAY & ???
Jay never took a day off work but today he had requested a couple of days leave because today marked the day that Jay had been back from active service for 2 years now, the memories, experiences, all the pain and sorrow, the blood and death still as fresh in his head as it had been the day he returned from deployment 2 years ago. Jay sat on the couch, beer in his hand as he rummaged through a box of what he had labelled ‘Only To Be Opened Upon My Death.’ Inside were diary entries of his day to day life whilst on active duty, each one more haunting then the last. A few photos of happier days when he first got deployed with his unit. His old service side arm and a letter, a letter that’s envelope read ‘FAO Mouse’. A few sips of his beer whilst he held the letter in his hand, remembering what he has written in the letter that was only for Mouse upon his death, caused him to sigh as he fell back against his couch, eyes tightly closed trying to fight off the memories and images flashing through his mind. He tossed the letter back in the box and got to his feet, heading to his desk he picked up a few more photos. The pictures he picked were of him and Erin, another sip of beer and a soft smile crept to his face. He sat back down on the couch as he placed the pictures of himself and Erin in the box and closed it up.
