Happy 31st Birthday Erin Lindsay! // (April 12th, 1985)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN I KNOW! @detlindsayerin
@officerxburgess
Kim sat at the bar at Molly’s and looked around. She has a long day and continued thinking about her relationship with Roman. She was so caught up in her thoughts she didn’t notice the person sit next to her. “Oh hey, anything happen with you today?” She beamed up from the counter.
Jay had just wrapped up another case with the gang. “Molly’s anyone? First round on me.” He said as he grabbed his things from his locker. Everyone else had plans or said they would meet him there so he headed off by himself. He entered Molly’s and saw Burgess sat alone at the bar, he headed over and slid into the seat next to her, Herrmann already handing him a beer before he could order it. “Cheers.” He said taking it and turning to face Burgess. “Hey Burgess...” No sign of life. “Burgess? Hello?” Jay tried again before getting an answer. “Finally wrapped up that child abuse case. How about you? Anything happen in the exciting world of patrol?” He said before taking a mouthful of beer.
THESE MEMORIES COME BACK TO HAUNT ME // JAY & ???
Jay never took a day off work but today he had requested a couple of days leave because today marked the day that Jay had been back from active service for 2 years now, the memories, experiences, all the pain and sorrow, the blood and death still as fresh in his head as it had been the day he returned from deployment 2 years ago. Jay sat on the couch, beer in his hand as he rummaged through a box of what he had labelled ‘Only To Be Opened Upon My Death.’ Inside were diary entries of his day to day life whilst on active duty, each one more haunting then the last. A few photos of happier days when he first got deployed with his unit. His old service side arm and a letter, a letter that’s envelope read ‘FAO Mouse’. A few sips of his beer whilst he held the letter in his hand, remembering what he has written in the letter that was only for Mouse upon his death, caused him to sigh as he fell back against his couch, eyes tightly closed trying to fight off the memories and images flashing through his mind. He tossed the letter back in the box and got to his feet, heading to his desk he picked up a few more photos. The pictures he picked were of him and Erin, another sip of beer and a soft smile crept to his face. He sat back down on the couch as he placed the pictures of himself and Erin in the box and closed it up.
Jay tilted his head up from staring at the floor to look at his apartment door, wiping the blood away that was starting to form again on his lip. Sighing slightly, thinking his attackers had come back for round 2, he opened the door to be greeted by the face of his beautiful girlfriend, a small somewhat painful smile appeared on his face at the sight of her. “Hello beautiful.” No matter how much pain he was in Erin always made him feel better, he pushed the door open further for her to come in.
Jay sat in the kitchen of his apartment, mopping the blood up from his mouth. He hadn't even seen it coming, they just came out of nowhere. He didn’t stand a chance, 3 with weapons against 1 unarmed.
Jay holstered his side arm upon hearing the man speak, he couldn't fully see his face but he knew something was wrong. "Everything alright dude?" Jay asked genuinely concerned, things between them had been pretty tense since the dispute about who was better Rangers or Marines but that didn't stop Jay from caring for the guy.
The young detective picked up on the pain that was in his voice as he watched the former Marine place the bag of ice on his side, before turning to face Jay. "Shit! What the hell happened dude?" Jay asked as he advanced towards the man to check if he was alright, noticing the blood Jay turned his attention to locate where it was coming from.
A PAIN THAT I’M USED TO | OPEN PARA
He passed his tongue over his lips again, tasting the same metallic taste of his blood. Meanwhile, the ice burned the side of his face that wasn’t in pain, shuffling the bag that contained it over his left eyebrow, a few drops of bloody water coming out of it every now and then. During an early run down the center Chicago streets, Nate found himself in a complicated situation. A young woman was molested by a group of men, gang-members he guessed, and his instinct of protect others kicked in. The girl was lucky to escape, but a 5vs1 fight was not easy, not even to a former Marine. After being left on the street, and taking a while to get up, he walked himself to the GYM where he worked, assured that there would be ice and maybe some medical equipment to fix himself up.
He was sitting on the edge of the boxing ring, staring at the floor, not even patching up his injuries, when he heard a noise that kicked him out of his thoughts. Somebody was approaching.
“See you tomorrow guys.” Halstead, was leaving early because he had been undercover all night on a case and Voight had told him to take the day and rest. He grabbed his belongings from his locker and headed out of the precinct, pausing for a moment to take in the snow that was gently falling on his face. “Damn these Chicago winters get worse every year.” He muttered to himself as he wrapped his jacket around him tighter and slung his bag over his shoulder. Halstead needed sleep but he needed coffee more. He grabbed his usual from the Starbucks a block away and continued to make his way home.
A couple more blocks and he was nearing the gym that Antonio, himself and Roman owned. Jay never really got involved in the running of it he just enjoyed using it to keep in shape and help out the youngsters in the local area, he noticed the lights were on. “Well this should be good.” He said as he checked his holster that was still attached to his hip. He made his way into the building. None of it should have been open, not this early anyway. Antonio never worked until after shift and none of the other trainers ever got in this early. He placed his bag and coffee on the floor just inside the door before drawing his gun from it’s holster. He slowly made his way to the training area. “CHICAGO....” He started to identify himself as he burst into the training area, his gun out in front of him, only to stop when he saw the sight sat in front of him. “Nate?” He asked confused as to why the former Marine was at work so early.

Halstead’s features changed instantly upon hearing Nate take a dig at his Ranger background and Rangers in general. “What’s wrong with us Rangers? If it wasn’t for us willing to lay our lives down for guys like you, there would a lot more dead Marines by now.” Halstead raised a brow as he chugged another mouthful of, now going cold, coffee. “You know I part own said gym right?
