        ashes,   ashes !    /    we all fall down.    /    some times,   you think you took that saying    /    a little too   literally.    /    other times,   you think    /    your sense of   humour   is   sick.    /    the judgement hall,   where    /    you’re filled with   DREAD.    /    you’ve been here before,    /    how long ago was that ?    /    it feels as if only yesterday.    /    you’ve been here before. 

                *...                  *i   know   you remember.                  *...                  *i almost want to reset.                  *but what’s the point ?                 *everyone’s happy,   yeah.                  *but this is something different.                  *...                 *this is all that’s left for someone like   me. 

        it was the same game,    /    different endings.    /    this is all that’s left.    /    so why did you feel   so bad ?    /    why did your   chest ache,   why did    /    it feel like you were   suffocating ?    /    ...    /   you’re drowning,   icarus.    /    but this time you’re not fighting.    /    fight,   icarus.    /    hand comes up to chase a    /    new sensation on your skin.    /    fingers that dip into   holy water.    /    your eyes were watering.    /    something about that    /    makes you   smile,    /    makes you   laugh,    /    if only   briefly.

                * checkmate. 

        chess   was definitely one of your   favourite   board games.    /    you enjoyed the   mental challenge,    /    the   meticulous calculation.    /    you had considered joining   chess club   in school,   but    /    you didn’t believe your skills were   god tier   just yet.    /    plus,   your   only contestant   to play against was   sans,   and    /    never to be rude,   but    /    you could never tell if he was   trying   or   not.    /    you suppose he was   capricious   that way.

            nowadays   /   she the odd one out.     you couldn’t even try to predict where she’d pop up next   /   she was a nimble navigator of the underground.     occasionally   /   she makes her rounds   /   stopping by snowdin   /   and attracting a fair amount of attention as she did.     she mostly came to stop by grillby’s   /   or have a good read at the library   /   but nothing else really drew in her attention.  

            so you may find this friendly face   /   taking time for herself to relax at grillby’s   /   seated quietly at one of the booths.     one who looked closely could tell that she was spacing out   /   albeit slightly   /   as she wandered her mind   /   like she so often did   /   in some vain hope that she’ll find a memory   /   and hold onto it.     /     @onehpwonder liked.
