Editorial credit: / Shutterstock.com
Changi airport has done it again! They have been voted “the best airport” in the world for the 7th consecutive year in a row. The airport received the ‘Skytrax airport awards” before opening up their new addition “Jewel” which secured its top place for another year.

‘Jewel’ opened up to the world on the 17th of April and is in the center of Terminal 1, 2 and 3. This area was previously an open-air carpark for the airport which transformed into a dazzling multi-functional development. It has 10 stories (5 above ground, 5 underground) and spans over 135,000m2.
The move to build this Jurassic Park looking complex was to strengthen its position as the best transfer airport in Southeast Asia and outclass Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok Airport.

‘Jewel’ isn’t just a pretty building, it provides so many amenities that the only way to show you is through the eyes of social media users.
「HSBC rain vortex」
‘HSBC rain vortex’ is its main attraction. This colossal 40-meter indoor waterfall holds the title of the largest indoor waterfall in the world.

Final Thought: ‘Jewel’ is probably the most beautiful airport in the world but it came at an enormous 1.25b US dollars. Was it worth it? Hell yeah. Not only is it an airport, it now doubles as a mini amusement park. Usually, I dread layovers but this airport makes me want to spend a few more hours in Singapore.

Is your sperm healthy?
THE ‘SPERM EXTRACTOR’
On Twitter last week, @AngrymanTV posted a series of photos of a very odd looking machine. The Twitter user explained that it’s actually a sperm extractor which can collect sperm and analyze sperm health. Have a look at it, it looks super weird.
A Chinese company says its automatic sperm extractor is helping clinics collect semen from donors reluctant to masturbate in a hospital setting. pic.twitter.com/zBqf4wWVQi
— AngryMan (@AngryManTV) April 5, 2019
So supposedly, this machine has been selling since 2012 but only recently became viral through social media. Some tweets have made jokes about humanity falling into the hands of robots.
This is how humanity falls pic.twitter.com/HLu8EhNnkR
— Bone-kun (@0Bonekun0) April 7, 2019
The price tag for this machine, found on their Alibaba website, can reach up to $5,999, which isn’t too steep considering it’s made for hospitals but what are the features? According to the Alibaba website, they claim to provide “therapeutic functions” such as ‘premature ejaculation desensitization training’ and ‘sex-psychological evaluation’ which supposedly uses a universal psychological questionnaire that can be used as a supplement to any treatment.
The surprising part about all this is that the company sells over 10,000 machines per year!! Why is it so popular?
COULD SPERM HEALTH HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT?
Male sperm counts have decreased over the past 30 or so years. A research article published in Human Reproduction Update examined the sperm count of 42,935 men between the years of 1973 and 2011 and found that sperm count declined significantly by almost 50% in Australia, US, UK and New Zealand.
Source: VOX
Source: Human Reproduction Update, 2007
The graph above shows that in 1973 there was an average concentration of 99 million sperm per mL compared to 2011, where they found that it stooped to 50 million sperm concentration per mL. Are you getting worried? I am… but just putting it out there, the average sperm count nowadays is still in the healthy range.
So, what about Japan? Well, the article found that there is a decline in Asia, Africa and South America but not as significant as western countries. There is definitely room for more discussions about this terrifying decline.
REASON BEHIND THE DECLINE IN SPERM HEALTH?
Scientists believe that the drop in sperm counts can be correlated with obesity, inactive lifestyle, smoking and alcohol.
Other scientists found that there is a drop in sperm motility, concentration and count when you bathe at high temperatures like 42°C.
Some scientists believe that chemical additives in plastics (BPA and PBDE) may affect sperm quality, but there has been no conclusive outcome.

FINAL THOUGHT : Boys, keep your sperm healthy by eating well, exercising, drinking less alcohol and interestingly enough, masturbating. I don’t think we talk about our sperm health often enough so I’ve taken the liberty to inform you guys!
If you guys want to see a rough idea of how healthy your sperm is or your boyfriends’ sperm, check this company out. They have come up with a cool smartphone app that lets you check your sperm concentration and health!
In any case, stay healthy and have a chat with your friends about it.

Have you ever seen a falcon in a plane before?
Jumping onto a flight, you expect to travel for hours with your helpful flight attendants and an emotional array of passengers but that’s not what this globetrotting journalist saw. He was stunned to see 2 falcons come on board as emotional support animals (ESA). He stated in a tweet that “People are changing seats to get away from them. I just volunteered to sit closer to them. They make me feel secure.”

Now, this may be a shock to you and me but not for everyone. Some tweets have explained that in the Gulf region of the world it isn’t anything special. This twitter user explains that if you fly Royal Jordanian Airways you are permitted 2 falcons per person and a maximum of 10 per plane. She also mentions that in the UAE, falcons have their own passports.
If you fly on Royal Jordanian Airways you'll have the best chance of this happening. They allow 2 falcons per person (till the max of I think 10 per plane is reached). Other middle eastern airlines allow them too but fewer. In the UAE falcons are issued their own passports. :)
— Liz Williams (@Liz_Alfreda)
March 30, 2019
So why are falcons allowed on planes and why do they have passports? I did a bit more digging and found that falcons are actually on board and can even have passports because they can be worth up to a million dollars and they try and deter smugglers.
In UAE, even birds need papers to fly. The country’s falcons are issued special #passport known as 'Falcon passports' to combat smuggling. Falcons can sell for as much as $1 million each. Falcons cant fly without passports.https://t.co/qGHCulR6Tg#FalconPassport pic.twitter.com/csHvS2olUv

Ok, let’s move out of the Gulf region and toward the US. In the US, most animals traveling on flights are emotional support animals (ESA) and service animals.
ESA’s are for those who have a mental health condition and can be any animal although some may not be permitted on planes. They are different from service animals that cater to hearing, sight, and mobility.
In recent years there have been adjustments to what types of animals are allowed on planes but in any case, let’s check out what animals have boarded on planes for emotional support.

Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing many interesting animals in the US anymore. There have been disrupting incidences and defecation on the rise so airlines had to crack down on untrained ESA’s.
According to Delta Airlines, they flew over 250,000 animals in a year. That’s 700 animals per day.
Last year, most airlines had strengthened their policy to only allowing Dogs, Cats and sometimes small ponies.

And in Japan, All Nippon Airways (ANA) states that ESA is not permitted within Japan but they are very rarely accepted on international flights to the USA and Mexico.
;
FINAL THOUGHT: I understand that emotional support animals are necessary for mental health but at the same time I think there are definitely people taking advantage of this service. Many horror stories where the dogs are untrained and yelp throughout the flight or even injure people. There have been instances of animals defecating on the plane. Honestly, it’s bad enough I have to sit in one spot for hours end, so I’m definitely glad they strengthened the regulations on untrained animals.
