It's so funny that we get to see Zoro's backstory in ep 19 and then Sanji's introduced immediately afterward. Behold, the perfect dichotomy of characters in One Piece; the person with the straightforward backstory that we get in one episode, and the person with a layer [whole] cake of backstory that practically needs an entire arc alone to trace.
Also god Kuina deserved better.

also it's so funny that these complete idiots live in a world made basically entirely of ocean and yet somehow managed to perfectly dodge any and all knowledge of scurvy.
and FINALLY everyone's favorite FAIL HUSBAND makes his appearance. i don't even think i adored sanji as much as I do now and yet ive been infected. he is the scrunkly.
so the easiest thing to do for usopp's story is to let the lesson of the boy who cried wolf take over and blame his lying nature for nobody believing him, but he pretty clearly always made it known when the lie was over in the past.
His line that he'd make sure he was lying by taking care of the pirates before they threatened the village is what's really indicative of his character, and it reminds me of why i like him.
I adore how simple luffy's motivations always are.
"why are you interfering with people you don't have any reason to know or care about?"
"one of them had good vibes. also someone asked me to. don't really remember who."
for as incredibly, lovably stupid as luffy is, he's actually impressively tactically minded. maybe thats just what 100% of his brain is dedicated to (besides meat and being the pirate king)
the fucking figurehead of the black cat crew's ship looking concerned as luffy rips it out of the fucking bow is so funny oh my god
ALSO I DID NOT CATCH THAT THE SHEEP BUTLER'S NAME WAS MERRY. THE MERRY WAS NAMED AFTER THAT GUY THE WHOLE TIME.
buggy's backstory is literally just "I was a complete idiot, constantly, and it's everyone else's fault."
*gets carried, kicking and screaming, across kilometers of ocean by a bird the size of a jetliner*
*drops twenty stories from the sky directly onto a cobblestone road, nearly slamming into a random girl*
"man, that was an interesting experience. what's going on here?"
the man knows how to enter a scene, at least.
