Day 3 and the first day of fighting. First was the opening ceremony with Cassius and myself flying the flag for GB. Then it was straight into action. Cassius was back in his two points divisions and he was also the first fight of the day on tatami 1. A bit of a rocky start but Cass found his groove and managed to pull back a 2 point deficit to win 9-2 in his opening bout against Taijikistan. Fighters in Europe have a different style to the UK and so there was definitely a bit of International ring rust due to the pandemic. Cass then went on to beat his Turkish opponent 7-2 in the final for the Gold in the -32kg division. In the -37kg Cassius had to show more mobility and fight smarts. What was a tight fight against his Turkish opponent in the first round became a 12-2 early finish as Cassius pulled ahead to go 10 clear. His semi final fight was against Tajikistan and this one was another cagey fight ending 5-3 in Cassius’s favour. The final unfortunately was one step too far. Cass started slow against yet another Taijikistan fighter going 4 points down. With his opponent trying to hide behind his lead leg, Cassius stalked him down and did well to bring the fight back. A mistimed attack saw Cassius drop two points to a jump kick and with only seconds on the clock he had to settle for Silver. Disappointed but some valuable experience. Next will be the light contact, hopefully tomorrow but maybe on Sunday. We now await the schedule and draws to be announced. #prouddad #wako #wakogb #onechampion #onewako #iocrecognizedsport #ioc #kickboxing #tatamisport #tatami #pointfighting (at TÜYAP PALAS) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdhccfNKD7N/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
