“Dating”
Instead of going on dates, people consider “dates” snap chatting or texting all day. Although these gestures can be charming and help people get to know one another, I want my connections to be deeper than that. I want my partner to see my face when we talk about things and how I can light up or how unfortunately my face does not allow me to hide my emotions. I want to see their facial expressions and body movements when we talk about something they enjoy or even hate. Snap chatting and texting are taking so much away from the dating world that allows us to really get to know one another. And I do not like it. It also leaves for so much uncertainty. Are they talking to other people too, do I have the right to know, does it even matter, who else gets to see their face all day, is our conversation different than theirs with others, are there others? The uncertainty leads to all these open ended questions that most people do not even dare to ask because then they may look clingy or how dare they want to define what the relationship is actually is. These conversations being held over electronics are conversations that need to be being held in person to feel those raw emotions and connections. We are cheating ourselves out of the dating world when there is so much opportunity and connections to be had.
