“Very little, to be honest,” you begin with a shrug, pausing to take a bite of your food as he does the same. “I mean, I was planning on getting something to eat when I was intercepted,” you groan, rolling your eyes and looking back at Kenny. “Honestly, Ospreay is either too annoyingly dense or too much of a stubborn asshole,” you finish your words with a deep sigh, shaking your head before going back to your food. There is a pause in the air as Kenny takes in what you said. When he first saw Ospreay hitting on you you seemed fine with it, laughing along with his jokes and what not. It had felt like a jab to his already shaken ego and for the good of himself - and this friendship he wanted to protect - he just chose to walk away. He found something else to do with his time instead of feeding into his jealousy and insecurities. But the story you were telling now was a different one. “You mean you weren’t,” Kenny paused for a beat, trying to find a way to phrase his question that wouldn’t sound like he was prying too much, “giving him your time willingly?”

OC!!! sorry it took me 500 years to get here @dragonsmooch fkjdha I have already written the fic that introduces her BUT unfortunately I wrote out of order so I haven't posted it yet. That being said!

Her name is Cleotha Clark! Excerpt:

A woman appeared in the doorframe, with a faint smile. Aura judged that she was probably in her 60s - her dark hair, styled in cornrows, was sporting many grey strands. Aura was quick to notice the gun hanging off her waist - that was particularly odd. The Turks didn't allow most people to carry guns in the facility. So why...?

And basically the story I've laid out for her is that she is an incredibly talented doctor - she could work just about anywhere she wants, including at the very top serving the Shinra family directly. She chose not to do that - she's got good self preservation. BUT! She was really good friends with Rufus' mother (who I've named Lillian), and when Lillian became pregnant with Rufus, she all but begged Cleotha to become the Shinra family doctor, because she wanted the best for her baby, and Cleotha is it. And she trusts Cleotha a lot.

Cleotha accepts, and becomes the Shinra family doctor, seeing all sorts of unpleasant things she hadn't seen before pertaining to Lillian and President Shinra's relationship (my hc that it was abusive), but also getting to know little baby Rufus and actually being an adult he could trust. Lillian dies, essentially of a broken heart, and Cleotha is also heart broken by this :c but Lillian asked her to take care of Rufus. So she does...in her own way. She's not a parent - she never had kids. She just does what she can as his doctor. As he gets older he starts refusing to come in (stubborn bastard) and she doesn't reach out in any other capacity.

After Meteorfall the Turks find her and bring her back to Healen after Kilmister is killed because goddammit Rufus needs a real doctor and not so horrible quack.

So that's a lot of what happens to Cleotha, but about her:

She's smart. She knew taking a job as the Shinra personal doctors was fraught with risk because of how intensely you're surveilled - she only did this because of her best friend Lillian, who was definitely her weak spot.

She has a strong moral backbone, but she isn't afraid to get her hands dirty if the situation calls for it. She carries a gun on her person after Meteorfall. She understands she can't help everyone, especially those who might harm her, and has come to terms with this.

She's reliable, but she's not interested in babying others. She'll give you her blunt expert opinion, but if you choose to ignore it that's your decision.

She's funny!!! Only snarky if it's warranted. She's got a good sense of humor and a clear understanding of when it's appropriate.

She cares about Rufus, but she will never be his mother or anything close to it. She is his doctor, and if he wants, his friend and someone who can advise him. They are pretty close despite how he pulled away - he appreciates that she talks to him like a normal person, and not like he's on a pedestal. She will be blunt and honest with him, and she always has been, even when he was a kid.

I don't know if this would be too long to ask but I have a funny thing that happened a long time ago.

When I was 5-6 years old, I thought I could fly because my grandma kept telling me I could "You're a hero, you can fly I promise!" and I was able to get up onto the roof I think? (Or something else that was high) and I jumped off cause I thought I could fly.

I, of course, couldn't. I went to the hospital and they put a cast on my leg but then my other leg didn't work so we thought the hospital was stupid and put the cast onto the wrong leg.

We were gonna get mad but then! I found out that I had both legs broken.

And yeah, I was just wondering how some of your characters would react to learning/hearing this story. If it's too long, just ignore this lol. I mostly just wanted to tell the story cause it's funny.

Xilixas admires your reckless spirit, but thinks maybe you shouldn't be left unsupervised. Don't worry though - he's happy to supervise you for future adventures, if you know what he means.

Lillianna is appalled that any adult would promise something like that to a child. She tries not to laugh at the fact that you broke both your legs and didn't immediately realize it, because she's too focused on being upset that your grandma put the idea in your head to start with.

Jade laughs at your story and tells his own story of adults giving false information leading to injury. Granted Jade was a fair bit older, since it was after he joined his pack family at around 12. His pack leader told him he could leap from one rooftop to another across the street, as a wolf. Jade was laid up for a while afterward.

As far as Ghost is concerned, you are a superhero. You jumped from a high place and lived to tell the tale! He's impressed you didn't break more bones to be honest. He also makes sure to tell you that it isn't nice of grown-ups to lie like that.

Violet is confused and concerned. Why... Why would you believe that you could fly? Of course, you were very young, and he knows how easy children can be to convince of certain things. You're lucky you didn't break your spine. From now on, expect to be on a calcium-rich diet. Oh no, he insists.

Expect Ash and Nyx to swaddle you in bubble wrap (physically and metaphorically). You're not doing anything even remotely dangerous anymore. Need something from the store? Ash will go - he's the more responsible one of the two, and he'll look for sales. Nyx will buy whatever looks most interesting, so at least make sure you don't give him your card.
