So I might have been going about this the wrong way. Sherlock isn't a recycled Doctor Who script where there are so many parallels to the DW era of Ninth Doctor onwards. It is actually an homage to the old DW series. Well, I can't even think of watching the new DW, older is out of question. No biggie, I will get to watch it's epic moments through Sherlock anyway.
