YOU THERE. BIGGEST EMDUO AND CODEBREAKERS LOVER ON MY DASH.
There's something to be said about how in the same way Etoiles said "I am your arms, just tell me who needs to die," to Phil, Phil was very much the same way for Techno.
Discuss. Explode. What have you. This concept sounds like a delicious Medusa Analysis waiting to happen if it hasn't already.
See you have got me in my weak spot, because I love this, and this aspect of devotion and loyalty is an aspect of both codebreakers and emduo that I love a lot-- "I am your arms" "i don't want you to die for my revenge" "anything you need"— I love it in the "flailing wildly at the camera while unable to form words" way.
Analysis? SCREAMING. ONLY SCREAMING.
And this is something where like, the differences between techno and phil (on various servers) and etoiles, all of which would do this, is so interesting. Because like Techno is someone who gave his loyalty multiple times and then got betrayed, and Emduo/the Syndicate is the one moment where he truly was able to feel that people had his pack, that he has friends now when he needs help. And Phil on DSMP is someone who was friendly to so many people but actually gave his loyalty to so few, to being techno's hidden sword when it was called for, giving his help there so freely, but not necessarily going to the mat for other people, staying isolated. And Phil on QSMP is someone who was friendly to so many more and a cheerful member of the community but when he actually became threatened felt that he had so few people that he could call on— it was fit who he trusted to reality check him, but when it went down to being overtaken by the ender king, he isolated completely and didn't really have anyone he trusted to HELP him, despite the fact that he would help them whenever asked. And my knowledge of etoiles lore is so much more sketchy because most of it happened in a language I can only parse in slow mo, but my impression— feel free to correct me those who can catch lore in more than vibes— is that Etoiles is someone whose main core is his loyalty not to any principles/vengeance but to his people— he'll work with the federation, he'll work with the codes, anyone who is able to promise that they'll help him, protect the kids, aid his friends. He's such a person-oriented person, but not necessarily like— phil is an anarchist, fit has his priorities, cellbit has his goals, but I feel like Etoiles is willing to throw out anything and work with any former enemy if they can make him the right offer. But once then he's committed. Now I just did way more exercise than I normally do so that might be complete nonsense, and again this is a subject where I'm just waving my hands and going AHHHHHHHH.
I love codebreakers and I love emduo both so much for the sense that they have each other's back and they're battle bros and they find joy in each other, but the specific differences are also so interesting. Someone smarter than me should go into that.
