Only Jesus Saves

People often say, "We're all going to die." That is true. Every person will one day face physical death because of sin (Romans 5:12). But Scripture warns of something even more serious than physical death: spiritual death and eternal separation from God for those who reject His offer of salvation.

Jesus came so that sinners could have eternal life. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). God does not delight in anyone's destruction. He calls people everywhere to repent and place their faith in His Son. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). Salvation is not earned by good works, political views, national identity, or religious traditions. It is God's gift of grace received through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

That is why Christians are called to keep Christ at the center. Our hope is not in politics, political leaders, or human traditions. Our hope is not in earthly kingdoms but in the Kingdom of God. Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world" (John 18:36). The Bible also teaches that believers should be known by their fruit. Jesus said, "Ye shall know them by their fruits" (Matthew 7:16-20). We are to test every teaching by Scripture (Acts 17:11; 1 John 4:1) and remain faithful to Christ above every earthly allegiance. One day every person will stand before God. The question is not what political movement we followed or what traditions we defended. The question is whether we repented of our sins and trusted in Jesus Christ. Those whose names are written in the Book of Life have eternal life, while Scripture warns of the second death for those who reject God's salvation (Revelation 20:14-15). Today is the day to repent, believe the Gospel, and trust in Jesus Christ alone. He died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. Only Jesus saves.

The Gospel Is Greater Than Politics

Jesus Christ did not come to establish an earthly political kingdom. He came to save sinners. He said, "My kingdom is not of this world" (John 18:36). The heart of the Christian faith is the Gospel: that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Salvation is found in Him alone. In recent years, many Christians have expressed concern that politics has become intertwined with faith in ways that can overshadow the Gospel. Critics have pointed to ideas such as Christian nationalism, treating America as a uniquely chosen nation, blending patriotic ceremonies with worship, emphasizing culture-war issues above the message of Christ, using prophecy to elevate political figures, or measuring faithfulness by loyalty to a political movement. Whether or not these criticisms apply in every case, Christians should examine every teaching and practice in light of Scripture. The Bible calls us to test everything by God's Word (Acts 17:11; 1 John 4:1). No political party, nation, or leader can save us. No flag, campaign, or government can forgive sins. Only Jesus Christ can reconcile us to God. Our first citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20). Our mission is to proclaim Christ crucified, make disciples of all nations, love our neighbors, and bear the fruit of the Spirit. The Church is called to be faithful to Jesus, not to place its ultimate hope in earthly power. This does not mean Christians cannot participate in public life or care about justice and the good of their communities. But our identity must never become rooted in politics more than in Christ. Whenever any political movement, ideology, or tradition begins to overshadow the Gospel, believers should return to the Scriptures and keep their eyes fixed on Jesus. Do not put your trust in princes or in human leaders, in whom there is no salvation (Psalm 146:3). Put your trust in Jesus Christ alone. He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). He alone is Savior (Acts 4:12).

Read your Bible. Test every teaching. Follow Jesus Christ above every earthly allegiance.

It is sad to see people on TikTok and other social media believing the same lie the serpent told in Genesis 3. Satan deceived Eve by saying, "Ye shall not surely die... ye shall be as gods" (Genesis 3:4-5, KJV). From a Christian perspective, that temptation was not merely about eating forbidden fruit it was about seeking a status and knowledge apart from God's will. Throughout history, similar ideas have appeared in different forms.

Today, some social media creators teach that people are gods, "divine earth angels," "earth angels," "lightworkers," or possess a hidden divine identity waiting to be awakened. Others describe political leaders as "lightworkers." Even Salon published an article discussing how some New Age influencers have described Donald Trump as a "lightworker." Whether these ideas are applied to ourselves or to public figures, Christians should examine them carefully in light of Scripture.

The apostle Paul warned the church, "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light" (2 Corinthians 11:14, KJV). He continued by warning that false apostles and deceitful workers disguise themselves as ministers of righteousness (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). Scripture teaches that deception often appears attractive, spiritual, and persuasive. That is why believers are repeatedly told to test every teaching rather than accept it because it sounds inspiring or supernatural.

Jesus called Satan "a liar, and the father of it" (John 8:44), and Revelation 12:9 describes him as the one "which deceiveth the whole world." For that reason, Christians are commanded to "try the spirits" (1 John 4:1), to search the Scriptures daily like the Bereans (Acts 17:11), and to beware of philosophies and traditions that are not according to Christ (Colossians 2:8).

The Bible never tells believers that they are gods, earth angels, divine beings, or lightworkers. Instead, it teaches that those who trust in Christ are children of God by adoption through faith (John 1:12), new creations in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), disciples of Jesus, ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20), and members of His body (1 Corinthians 12:27). Our identity is found in Jesus Christ not in mystical titles, hidden knowledge, or secret spiritual identities.

The Gospel does not call us to discover a hidden divinity within ourselves. It calls us to repent, believe in Jesus Christ, deny ourselves, and follow Him. Salvation is found in Christ alone, not through secret knowledge, spiritual awakenings, or mystical identities.

Keep your eyes on Jesus Christ, remain grounded in God's Word, and test every teaching by Scripture. Do not be carried away by deceptive spiritual claims, but hold fast to the truth revealed in Christ.

Fear God, Not Man

Jesus never called His followers to live in fear of people, political parties, or earthly kingdoms. He called us to fear God alone.

Many MAGA conservatives have lived with conspiracy theories and fear of others for decades. I believe they have chosen to follow Trump, whom I believe is the Antichrist, and that his rhetoric has encouraged fear and suspicion of other people rather than trust in God. I believe many spend more time sharing conspiracy theories about others than sharing the Gospel the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Recently, President Trump said that "the communists" are making their move. I believe this kind of rhetoric is intended to stir fear. But Scripture teaches Christians to reject fear-based trust in political leaders and to place their confidence in God alone.

Jesus said: "Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28»

The Gospel is not about creating fear of Muslims, immigrants, LGBTQ people, Jewish people, political opponents, or our neighbors. The Gospel is the Good News that Jesus Christ died for our sins, rose from the dead, and offers salvation to everyone who repents and believes in Him.

Jesus also commanded: "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." Matthew 5:44

The Church's mission is not to spread fear, conspiracy theories, or political propaganda. Our mission is to preach Christ crucified, make disciples, love our neighbors, care for those in need, and proclaim the Kingdom of God.

I believe Revelation 13 warns of a time when many will give their allegiance to the beast. Because of that, I believe Christians should examine every leader, every movement, and every message in light of Scripture. My conviction is that Donald Trump is the Antichrist, but regardless of differing interpretations of prophecy, every Christian is called to worship God alone and never place ultimate trust in any political leader.

Our citizenship is in heaven. Jesus Christ is our King. Our hope is not in America, politics, or earthly power. Our hope is in the crucified and risen Lord Jesus Christ alone.

Fear God. Love your neighbor. Test the spirits. Share the Gospel. Worship Jesus Christ alone.

That is not the Gospel. That is apostasy. They think they are going to heaven because they do these things, but Jesus will say, "Depart from Me, you workers of iniquity."
