Afterall, nobody put new wine in an old wineskin, else the bottle will break and the new wine will run out, and the new wine skin will perish. Instead they put new wine into new wineskin, and both are preserved. Mtw 9:14-17, Mark 2:21-22, Luke 5:33-39. There's a saying that you cannot do things the same way and expect the same result. To yield a new result you must do things differently. I believe that God is the author of that principle. He does not work within you with the same mindset you carry from birth, instead He gives a new heart and a new spirit as you grow older. Paul said that when is as a child I behaved like a child and when I am grown I do away with childish things. As you grow older go grow into a new mindset and as you grow in Christ, God gives you a new heart and a new spirit to enable you to carry out your assignment in life so that you can live the life God intended for you. King Saul was given a new heart and a new spirit before he became the King of Israel. The spirit of the Lord descended on Jesus during his baptism so that he was enabled to carry out his assignment on earth. The disciples had to wait for the spirit of God to come on the Pentecost before they received the boldness and the courage they needed to proclaim the gospel of good news. You need a new heart and a new mind from God. And not just any heart or any spirit but you need the mind of Christ who was focused on fulfilling his God given assignment on earth. You need the mindset of Christ which was set in pleasing the Lord at all times and being at peace with all men.
