Além de super talentosa, a moça é determinada, focada e bastante dedicada à sua carreira. ⠀ ⛰Ryder também tinha uma carreira promissora no futebol, mas uma meningite bacteriana afetou sua audição e assim ele se viu tendo que abdicar de vários aspectos da vida. Por baixo de todo um aspecto de lenhador e várias camisas quadriculadas, Ryder é uma pessoa carinhosa, compreensiva e solidária. ⠀ ⚽️Eu esperava apenas um enemies to lovers, mas Chloe Liese me deu muito mais que isso. Tudo bem que tanto Willa quanto Ryder começaram com o pé esquerdo um com o outro, mas logo suas briguinhas e picuinhas se tornam rotina em uma grande amizade que nasce entre os dois. ⠀ ⛰Creio que ainda não havia lido nenhum livro cujo protagonista sofria de alguma deficiência auditiva e aqui a autora sobre desenvolver muito bem isso tanto em Ryder quanto Willa. A moça nunca viu o rapaz como incapaz e nem o tratou diferente. Já Ryder vive num auto-martírio imposto e a presença de Willa na sua vida vai fazê-lo reavaliar tudo isso. ⠀ ⚽️Willa também possível um baita desenvolvimento, mas dessa vez no lado emocional. Ela se joga de cabeça na sua carreira e usa como desculpa para não se envolver. Errada não está, porém nesse caso vai do seu medo do abandono, já que seu pai sumiu quando sua mãe estava grávida e esta está morrendo de câncer. ⠀ ⛰Esse foi meu primeiro contato com a autora e já virou queridinha. Além de uma escrita fluída e gostosa, no início de cada capítulo há uma música que se relaciona ao que vai acontecer. Only When It’s Us by Chloe Liese

Oooowee! I ate this up like candy. This one was on my TBR pile for a little bit, and I should have read it sooner. I'm ready to read more about the Bergman Brothers after this intro! Willa and Ryder's acquaintance starts off rough. She's a hothead and he's rational. She's closed off, and he's patient enough to bring down her walls. Like any Chloe Liese novel, this one has depth, heart and emotional moments that never feel forced or in service of a box to be ticked for the plotline. I deeply identified with Willa and how she approaches romantic relationships, and when that happens, a good book makes you reflect and try to do better in your real world just like the characters are doing in their fictional one. Once the initial misunderstanding was revealed, I loved how Willa and Ryder's chemistry evolved and they became genuine friends, albeit still with some resistance from Willa. The supporting cast of their roommates and family made me laugh and long to be near my own. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
