This was the place. It had been difficult to find, making the journey alone with only written directions to guide him, but this fit every description he had been given. He dismounts his horse and ties it to a nearby tree, not wishing to disturb the sanctity of the place. And there was something about the area that felt removed from the world, nestled among the trees, and he feels safe leaving the animal there. He had not encountered anybody on the road in the past hour.
As he trudges closer a cold chill settles over the area, his breath appearing in wisps before him as he stops before the entrance.
Cao Cao’s tomb is a simple brick construction, the entrance bearing steps that lead down into darkness. Undoubtedly sealed deeper inside. One could confuse it for a grain pit if it weren’t so remote. Master Cao Cao was not the sort to wish for an elaborate tomb, but Yu Jin was still struggling to accept that the man’s body lay inside. He is distantly aware he should go inside and pay his respects or do something, but gazing down into the dark entrance, he is only wrenched from his thoughts by a flash of colour.
Cherry blossom petals fluttering about the tomb in a nonexistent breeze - but there were no cherry trees here. He reaches up to touch one as it passes, but it fizzles away before him. What--
A figure appears in the corner of his vision, and he turns to them. A young woman in bright colours, but there was something off here.
