Shinoa being so powerful now makes no sense and I do not mean as in "it came out of nowhere". There's been build up since catastrophe right, but it's more like Kagami uses her capabilities when it interests him. Back when she was possessed by Shikama and everyone was going after demon mika, it would've been impossible to stop shikama from obtaining him through shinoa, i know they kept him contained with those vials and they used sinful keys to restrain him a bit from taking fully over shinoa, but even in that moment Shinoa's capacity to make demons obey her would've solved him all his issues regarding "capturing demon mika". He'd just twist a hand and voilà, demon mikaela for you. Heck, even the vials were a nothingburger because there were no repercussions to shinoa, who may i remind everyone through Mahiru's quote, said vial is mortal to them too for having the first's cells. It's always "oh no, im fine i feel fine" with shinoa. First with the vials now also after absorbing shikama.
Hm, I get what you mean anon; in that regard, I can guess why considering it does feel like a "bluff for nothing", right?
First of all, let's take an insight of the lore:
Shinoa is the sole success of the experiments. She's capable of taking any demon inside her heart, but also, her purpose along her sister's creation was to control the punishment of the Seraph of the End experiment. (OnS Catastrophe at 16 Manga Ch. 51)
However, even if Shinoa was the perfect result, there's an issue. Shikama is not the same as the rest of the demons. What do I mean?
Contrast to all Black Demon Series, Shikama's possession is more akin to a Fallen Angel one.
The Black Demon Series are all made with former humans even if those humans were reincarnations of angels. This of course means the possession force they possess is not on the same wavelength as Shikama/Sika Madu.
Point number two.
True, given Shinoa has the power of full authority, it'd have made the task easy; however, there's actually a dynamic in there. What do I mean?
When a demon possesses their host, whose will is currently present?
Those kind of scenarios when an entity or another personality take control of the body of their hosts change a lot of things. I'll set an example with Boogiepop which is a story I tend to quote a lot.
Boogiepop is an entity whose rumors label them as a grim reaper or a shinigami who kills people when they're the most beautiful. However, the person or the real owner of that body is Miyashita Touka. Miyashita Touka is your average girl, a student who is dating a guy in secret one year older than her in high school. However, when danger lurks around or a threat to the world appears, Touka goes into a "sleep mode" and her other personality, Boogiepop, appears.
Boogiepop is capable of fighting, using microfilaments like wires to attack or cut things with high precision, but, contrast to the cheerful girl; Boogiepop doesn't laugh nor is capable of making a normal smile, it's always asymmetrical. They're more serious and cold yet deep down they're kind and compasionate.
But, the point is, Miyashita, when she's concious, she's unable to pull the tricks or attacks Boogiepop can do; but this goes too for Boogiepop's emotions. Boogiepop is unable to cry, lament or laugh. They can only guide and appear when a threat appears, but they're unable to remain forever in the physical world.
So, using that example, this goes the same way with Shikama. Shikama might be a powerful being, however, even if he's using his host's body, the skills Shinoa has are unique traits to her. He cannot force demons to work for him; so far he can brainwash but not control in full force.
As for the vials. That's a good point. The first time we see that kind of response in terms of being okaish is back in Ch. 97 on which Mahiru ultimately used an unknown type of drug on Shinoa.
Yet, as how powerful that drug was and what kind of damage left to Shinoa is unknown. One can only guess the drug worked to the point it made her forget the bond she had with Mahiru.
Perhaps the answer lies on the very fact they have the cells of the 1st progenitor? It's not the best answer but it could mean as to why Shinoa was able to withstand the poison. I mean, we see her take it and well
The most damage she takes is pretty much an effect on her eye but ultimately, it's because even if Shikama broke the connection with her, she still has a small connection with him given that she was born with him. Other possible answer comes is given how all Hiragi members are trained to endure torture and what not.
As for her body withstanding all that raw power, the key lies on the original purpose of why Shikama was die hard on controlling her body fully.
Besides, let's remember that ever since the remaining humans were made to handle cursed gear or experimented upon, they are not entirely human anymore so, perhaps the answer lies there too.
But ultimately, if I were to say, it's not the issue of her power but how the manga doesn't let the author exploit more traits and elements because I agree; it'd have been interesting to see some sort of repercutions or more explanation about those cases.
Hope the answer helps anon.
