Can't help but sneak in a little cozy knitting and reading time on this chilly, grey and snowy (again🙄) day. Nearly done with my seed stitch fingerless mitts. Yarn is my BFL base, Llark Speckle Sock in "Urban Decay". There are still some Fraternal Twin Sets and Full skeins available in the shop if you need some of this super fun colorway for your very own! Concrete grey with color pops of rust and a graffiti spray of radioactive green and intense turquoise are bringing those post apocalypse punk vibes to my needles. As you can see I like to knit my mitts concurrently as I do my socks. I don't have two sets of Karbonz in US 2 circulars so I am knitting one on DPNs. A little attention paid to equalizing my gauge has been necessary because I tend to knit at a lightly looser gauge on these DPNs. Dye lot disaster had me making some forced choices on my dad’s scarf, which made it no longer my dad’s scarf. Shown here it was by length ready for bind-off, but I just couldn’t, and I stuck it on a straight so I could have the circulars back for now.

I got two new skeins of yarn – the only two skeins out of four trips to two stores where the same dye lots actually matched each other – and I am going to do it again – all 8-ish x 66 inches of it – so it can be done like it was meant to be, and will be My Dad’s Scarf.

~*~But all is not lost!~*~

The unmatched grays didn’t happen until about 2/3 of the way up the scarf. Trying to save it with a chunk of black at the end was a reluctant decision when that scarf was for my dad, but not at all something I wouldn’t do in different proportions in less specific circumstances.

Someone who has seen the first version from almost the beginning kept saying how much she loved it every time she was over. After we got the new yarn for the new scarf, I told her I was going to frog the first one back to the end of the first gray skein, and start the black from there, and she said if I did that, she wanted to buy it 😻✨💰

The “me” part of me wants to give it to her as a gift, but not let her know that until I do. The “me who really needs the money” part of me thinks maybe let her buy the scarf, but include some surprise matching mitts from the yarn I’ll have left over.

A dilemma, but not the worst kind to have.

Coffee and immerse in new projects and ideas to focus on. I'm not very present here these days, but I'm working hard behind the scenes and I'm trying to be less attach to this phone. I think I will take the weekend off the phone for some time with friends I need to hug and some work on Sunday. After being out all day yesterday, today is all about home and taking it slow. I'm enjoying the fresh air, knitting and listening to the podcast Bear Brook. How's your Sunday? At the moment the finished t-shirt isn't available in my shop, that's because the original design is made with cotton, but since I would like to have all sustainable pieces in my shop, I'm looking for a new yarn to use.
