The German mathematician had been hard at work, reviewing sensory technology and seeing if it could be improved to detect the Breach at a much more quicker rate. If the Jaegers weren't ready then they needed another defense against the Kaiju, where ever the Breach may open this time.
It was late, in fact later than usual since Newton had already wandered off to bed after Hermann insisted that he should and there was no sign of the brash Australian pilot anywhere. Though he doubted it would stop anyone from wandering down here into the Laboratory, even if the lights had been switched off and only the glow of his desk lamp and the Kaiju organs suspended in glass tubes around the room shed light.
The creaking of the Laboratory caught the doctor's attention, making him stop in his work and look over his glasses at the door, not exactly expecting anyone. Well, Newton wouldn't be a surprise. Nor would Chuck or any of the other tag along pilots or Engineers his colleague had recruited.
"Can I help you? It's a bit late to be wandering the Shatterdome don't you think?"
He sighed, checking his watch briefly before looking back at his work. He didn't need to know who it was. Just their business.
