this is such a non issue but people who think buddy/nox is made of moonstone make me so mad and i feel bad because it's irrational... so here's a list for my reasoning on why he is not made of moonstone and this is also just me rambling about rock facts
Moonstone is a sodium-potassium-aluminum silicate.
It's a semi-precious gemstone with a pearl-like luster, similar to that of opals.
The name of the gemstone comes from the stone's characteristic schiller (visual effect), which produces the same opal/pearl luster and a milky-bluish internal light.
The colorings are produced by light diffraction through alternating layers of orthoclase and albite, varying from white to blue due to either how thick or how thin the albite layers are.
Its other name, hecatolite, comes from the Greek goddess Hecate, due to the stone's variations. The Greeks (as well as the Romans) believed moonstone to associate with their lunar deities (such as its namesake as well as Artemis from ancient Greece and Diana from ancient Rome).
Meanwhile, onyx (also known as onyx agate) is a white-and-black banded variety of agate, also a silicate material.
While the name onyx can be referring to level-banded agate types, its proper usage is used to term color pattern instead of band structure.
Onyx comes through the Latin term for 'claw' or 'fingernail' (though the term was originally Greek ὄνυξ, pronounced the same), which explains why the agate type has received such a name, as onyx agate with pink-and-white bands can often resemble a fingernail or even a talon/claw.
Onyx is cryptocrystalline (a rock texture made up of such minute crystals that its crystalline nature is only vaguely revealed even microscopically in thin section by transmitted polarized light), consisting of fine intergrowths of other silica materials, typically quartz and moganite.
Onyx has more parallel lines compared to its relatives which have more chaotic banding, such as sardonyx agate.
Black onyx is the most famous variety of onyx agate, though it is not as common as the color-banded varieties. Most black onyx on the market is artificially colored, believed to be a common practice since ancient Rome.
Speaking of ancient Rome, Roman soldiers would carry amulets of the stone engraved with Mars. This was believed to grant courage in war.
While it surely is possible his eyes are moonstone, Nox himself isn't made of it. Not to mention Nox is a nickname for Onyx.
I'd also like to point out that his eyes may also be his 'bands', as I don't believe the keys can be varying colors, only separate shades. I may be wrong.
