Gearing up for the Holiday Season ahead and doing some planning for this year’s display at the One of a Kind Show. I look forward to this show every year and have since I was a little kid. It used to be the highlight of my year as a visitor. My sister and I would go with our mom and aunt and spend a day picking up handmade gifts and getting inspired. When we were small, it was a lot of toys, trinkets and cookies, then jewellery, furniture and ceramics as teens, then everything else as young adults. I still have most of these collections and cherish them all. Well, not the cookies! We visited all our favourites and ended the day with a candy apple from the red carts filled with sweet treats out front of the exits. I always knew I wanted to do something creative and be a maker. I think visiting this show as a kid showed me that I could! I did my first little craft show and had my first sale as an entrepreneur at age 13! Then took wee a hiatus, grew up a little, went to art and fashion school, sold some jewellery in a few shops, then came to exhibit at One of a Kind! I’ve now participated in the show as a maker for many years (too many to mention) and each time I leave with the high from fresh inspiration, new friends and lovely updates from loyal customers. My family still comes to the show religiously and our homes are each filled with so many handmade goods, many attached to a story from a maker. I’ll have to share some of these sometime. I love that this show has been part of my life for so long. I hope that over the years I have made a piece of jewellery or two that have become part of your traditions and memories too! Here is a snapshot from the MoonRox booth last year. If you are in the Toronto area, I hope to see many of you at this Winter’s Show just three weeks away! @ooak_toronto #ooak18 #ooakday #ooakdiaries #oneofakindshow (at One of a Kind Show and Sale) https://www.instagram.com/p/BpqdfXzgjxT/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=5k3t48jliy4k
