Yesterday I tried scouring a second batch. I made sure to give each round a little longer and added another rinse. It’s still drying but doesn’t look much different from the first batch tbh. Lots of folks asked me about the sweater I wore to @mdsheepwoolfest This is the one from Saturday. The pattern is an #alicestarmore from her book on aran knitting and it’s called St. Brigid. The yarn is my own, called Excalibur. It’s wool and mohair. I did the grading, skirting, washing and dye work. And the fiber was milled @gurdy.run.woolen.mill It’s a sentimental yarn to me as it dates back to the beginning of my fiber art & farming career. The incredible knitting talent is from my dear friend @craicpotwoolwork And definitely the sweater looks sweeter on my beautiful Robin. So the whole thing is a treasure! Some of my spring fleeces are in! @iriscreekfarm raises some gorgeous animals, and I was lucky to get one of her BFL/Lincoln Longwool cross fleeces. You all know how much I love a good crossbreed, and this one is truly incredible. I've also got a couple of tiny, 6 month old Romney Lambie first shearing fleeces in white and silver. Had a lovely afternoon! First @aweinbe brought over spme lovelies from Countess Ablaze that we ordered a gew weeks back! Merino yak and silk 💜💙 Am in love! . Followed by a visit from Jane @3dogknits that was as fun as it was informative! We looked at a number of fleeces from my brother-in-law's Farm outside of Ottawa, comparing the various crimps and staple lengths. . This is a shot of two that I received from him, the left one appears to have some longwool in its make up....perhaps a bit of BFL....and the right is a lovely crimpy semi-down Cheviot! . More Cheviot on the way! One pro to non-superwash yarn is how the colour doesnt necessarily strike right away. . Sometimes you want it to, for example when you're speckling, but sometimes you don't like in this case where I wanted the colours to slightly mingle together where they met rather than just having solid lines between shades. .
