They're finally here! After several years I finally got the chance to finish the Southern Royal Guard. Parts 1 and 2 are linked above, and here are some blurbs about the characters under the read more

Iri'Nora: a beautiful half elf archer, Nora is a highly disciplined guard who doesn't quite know how to let loose. Before joining the Royal Guard, she was a clairvoyant for the Giants' Water Sect.
King Ji'Lal: the young king of the Giants, Ji'Lal was raised in the Air Sect but follows a new religion that worships the Time God. He's very controlled and even tempered, so his quiet sense of humor often goes over people's heads.
Queen Ad'Rassa: Ad'Rassa is from the Metal Sect, and has been the Queen of the Giants for the past decade. She has a very playful demeanor but becomes very imposing when she's serious.
Captain Nim'Sut: the Royal Guard's noble leader, Nim'Sut is a famous swordswoman with tremendous speed. Though she's from the Fire sect, she practices Air magic. She's married to a Djinn noblewoman.
Karmotai: Karmotai is the palace's scribe and historian. He takes on a mentor role to Ji'Lal and the younger members of the royal guard.

The Giants’ capital city is a centralized hub for the four nations to meet, having ambassadors from all political parties of the Southern continent. The United Southern Royal Guard is made up of elite fighters from each of the four races, resulting in a special group of 12.
They are led by a Giant King and Queen, who are not married-- only bonded by their political duties. Along with the Captain of the Guard and the Court Scribe, the four of them work closely with their royal guard to ensure protection, peace, and prosperity for their realm."

Retavadi is a mysterious traveler from the southern realms, journeying for an unknown cause with his sister and two companions. The four belong to an expansive, secret network that works from the shadows to maintain peace and balance in the world. Though he keeps his motives hidden, Reta has a righteous and straight-forward heart.
His creed often clouds with his romanticism, and though he himself doesn't realize it, he yearns for guidance.
His bared chest helps him relieve the heat caused from his magic casting-- which is used to bring his armor to scalding temperatures and his short sword hot enough to melt other metals.
Me and Bee rearranged our whole room these past two days and wow what a difference! I finished Retavadi's design so fast with my new space-- I'm hoping for more art again soon!
But wow can you all believe how long it's been since I did a full painting for Retavadi?? His design's been in "generic fantasy assassin" hell for years but I think I'm vibing with this 👌

Muuno the Big Bastard Man, he's a brute that throws his weight around. First son of a cultish Nomad Clan. Thinks Elliel is a good lay without knowing her true intentions....
some of u may recognize Inunei. She's been revamped like. BIG. Now a slightly less fuck-up Troll Pirate. Her older brother is Saishi, and the two are known as the Red Bandits. Nunei and Ellie were shitty girlfriends to each other once
Yezac is the heir to the powerful and corrupt Ottova Guild. He's very beautiful but very simple-minded and underestimates ppl. Privileged brat w good hair. Almost married Elliel yikes
literally the only angel in this lineup of bastards. Demirra is a Gnome bard whos very gentle and romantic, but doesn't believe in privacy. Sees Ellie as a mystery and prefers to keep it that way
Naelia's family-approved fiance (aka Not Good). Alaira is a top notch performer AND arrogant socialite. Take all Naiad problems and roll them up into one lady. Liked to keep Nae under her thumb but won’t admit she needs her

After my recent(ish) redesign of Elliel, I felt a profound click for my designs in Ocean of Cycles-- like a lot of the stuff I’d been researching and practicing were finally paying off. So I wanted all the scrappers to get a much needed facelift!
I’ve been studying a lot of armor construction and in general getting more detailed with my character costume designs-- so the focus of these refined concepts was bringing out their tangibility while maintaining the characters’ pre-existing silhouettes and color blocking.
Hi I’m here to start your week off with two flavors of handsome boy!!
Here are two of the Red Bandits. Saishi a Troll pirate / spearman, who uses earth magic to manipulate bone, and Sornal a Nomad paladin, who uses healing fire magic via heat and light.
These two are actually some of my oldest OCs ever. I had put them into Ocean of Cycles a couple years back, but felt like I lost something in translation. Recently a heart-to-heart talk with @beedalee helped me realize what I was missing, she adopted my OC Lerl, and I redid the boys’ designs a little closer to what they used to look like (which...i’m including in the read more for yucks)
Just a long-winded way to say I really missed these kids, and I’m honestly hyped about them now!
lkjhfsdf I’m screaming @ my 14 year old art... my silhouettes were fucking unintelligible back then MAN I LOVED SPIKES AND HUGE FEET. Most of these are some of my earliest attempts at digi art back when I first learned how to use a damn scanner, but I had tried to redesign Saishi several times even into college which is where the far right pic comes from

TBH i’m just super rambling now, but redesigning these two has been an almost spiritual experience for me. I tried putting their essences into other OCs of mine, thinking if I scratched the creative itch of glowy-golden-eyed-scarred-up-asian-bad-boi (kye lmao) and moppy-haired-sunshine-smile-but-still-a-badass-cute-guy (shii) I would be satisfied and could retire these old old OCs forever.
But there are just some things that don’t translate I guess? My muse wouldn’t leave and I missed having an outlet for these specific characters. And I’m just... happy for it. Welcome back you two scamps I really missed you

I’m sad there aren’t any Giants in this batch, but the next and final group will be nothing but Giants. I’m excited!

I started Garsend’s wardrobe halfway through working on Elliel’s, so he’s done already! My hand is so dead from powering through both of these fuckers and you probably won’t see another one for a bit 😂
Like Ellie, Garsend’s theme is actually his color accent-- green instead of the red of his uniform. In his recent redesign, I messed with his default outfit a million times before I settled on including the green collar for his undershirt, it just didn’t look right without it. His cultural outfits did end up sticking to the red theme though, since a big part of his personality is being dutiful to his nation. It’s always a challenge to balance red/green themes without dipping into Christmas territory, but it’s admittedly a challenge I enjoy tackling.
