ooc. Since I'm already on this, I'll expand a bit more. When I say Sampo's a lover, I do mean it wholeheartedly. The ancient Greeks believed in several forms of love, the common ones we know is Eros, Philia, Mania and so on.
And I feel like Sampo would perfectly encapsulate those concepts.
With Mew's Jing Yuan, it's very much Philia (deep friendship) and Pragma (longstanding love). It's Philia as both men see each other as equals. There's no power imbalance between the two despite their social status (general and a con man). But also Pragma as both sides try to help and tolerate their flaws in the long term. (Jing Yuan with sleeping away his pain and Sampo being reckless in his work).
With Ghostie's Dan Heng and Caelus, Sparkle and Zhongshan, it's very much Storge (familial love). Sampo sees himself as a sort of mentor to all three but being a worrying older figure in their life. He might have reservations on Sparkle's form of Elation, but he wouldn't hesitate to call her little sister. Or Zhongshan as big sister.
With Dan Heng and Caelus it's very much the same thing, though his mentorship with those two is slightly different as they're not Masked Fools. But even so he does teach them things if he feels it could help them in the long run. There's no attraction towards these four aside from wanting to guide them or be guided by her in the case of Zhongshan and Sampo.
For the former, they're little brothers he probably has had and easily adapted himself into that role. For the latter, he is their brother (though this is headcanon based. But this whole post is headcanon based so ye)
For Gepard, it would be an evolution of love. It starts off as Eros (sexual passion) because let's be real Gepard is a handsome guy. But it becomes more Ludus (playful love) as Sampo starts getting a crush on the man before falling into Pragma (longstanding love as I mentioned above).
Pragma comes from Sampo seeing the sincerity in the man's actions and words. And ultimately wanting to be a better person for Gepard to be proud of, but also holding the man on his own standards as he also recklessly throws himself in danger a lot.
Sampo is a man of love. In all forms and shapes of it. And he loves intensely for each and every single one of them.
