in my brain, jess has always and will always read as bug. insect, even.

common. practical. adaptable. good at surviving in a lot of situations. powerful. look a lot like little machines. extremely diverse. very colorful. pretty. lots of little legs. always some of the first to come back after disasters.

jess just reads bug to me. i mainly associate her with beetles (probably The Most diverse insect group) but also with spiders for her skills at planning and thorough analysis of situations.
