HIS  ARMS  ARE  OPEN  AND  WAITING  THE  SECOND  HE  SEES  HER  EXIT  THE  TRAIN,  catching livvy  with  ease  in  a  tight  hug.  the  smile  tucked  into  his  freckled and  freshly  kissed cheeks  is  bright as  the  sun,  touched  with  genuine  happiness.  

“  it’s  been  too  long! you’ll  have  to  tell  me  everything  you’ve been  up  to,  dear.  ”  his  words  are  sprinkled with  joyous  laughter, setting  livvy  back  on  her  feet.  they  have  been  apart  since  district  thirteen and  the  conclusion of  the  rebellion.

he  wishes  he  could  tell  livvy  he  and  his  angel  are  doing  swell, but  there  is  an  ocean  to  grieve, and  much  to  leave  in  the  past.  annie’s  torment at  the  hands  of  the  capitol  and  mags’  death  live  like  ghosts  in  their  home,  but  they  do  not  eclipse  all  they  have  to  cherish as  well.

“  things  are  rocky,  but  we  have  each  other. annie  is  well on  her  way.  we’ve  been  knitting  toys for  the  baby  nonstop!  ”
