His eyes widened. He wasn’t sure whether he was more shocked by the fact that Dacien was void touched, or by the fact he had chosen to share this information with him.
It couldn’t have been easy for the man. His stomach turned when he thought of how difficult this must be for him to conceal on a daily basis. He blinked rapidly, and looked at Dacien with a slight sadness in his eyes.
Letting out a breath he had been holding for a while, the protective spells around him shimmered and faded. No fighting, but instead an exchange of knowledge; of words and secrets. He much preferred to avoid the inherent risk in fighting someone who had - wait - had he called him ‘friend’? …Huh.
He sighed, taking a step forward. He had so very many questions, he wanted to reach out and touch the horns to see if they were anything like-
Swallowing the nervous lump in his throat, he inspected Dacien from head to toe. It suited him, if he was honest, the wicked claws, horns and fangs. It also reminded him of himself. The glow in his eyes was far greater than his own ever became. Realising he was staring, he blinked and looked away, tongue flicking again over that godsdamned cut on his lip.
The unearthly tones in Dacien’s voice prickled the hairs on the back of his neck. The void energy surrounding him was almost palpable, yet he didn’t feel threatened, not one bit.
“I- I…” He began searching for words, a peculiar notion for him, “I suspected something, but not quite… Like this.” His voice was quiet, reserved.
“Well, you show me yours…” He trailed off, sighed and gestured to himself. This was a bad idea, but he just couldn’t help it. Mayhap Dacien was someone who would truly understand, and he had to show him now, now or never.
Taking a deep breath and closing his eyes, aether began to pool in his body, at his will. Ice spread from his chest and crawled up his neck, down his arms. Swirls of green and blue aether surrounded him. Two sets of massive dragon horns sprouted from his head, tiny scales formed delicate patterns as his skin changed to a deep blue. He opened his eyes for a second - red, faintly glowing eyes locked on to Dacien’s turquoise ones as he opened his mouth and ran his tongue over his own fangs. Only a third of him was actually changed, the rest of him was normal.
Unlike Dacien though, this wasn’t something he had to hide, but something that took massive effort to show. Something that he could not do for extended periods - the aether surrounding him dispersed, he shook the ice from his arms and faded quickly back to normal.
Except he’d forgotten his injuries.
He collapsed backwards against the wall, bracing himself on his arm. Too much energy expended for being in such a weakened state. Looking up at Dacien, he felt lightheaded and dizzy, and his vision began to blur and grey at the edges.
“Ha.. Whoops - I… Ah..”
He was even paler than usual, on the verge of passing out, and it was all he could do to hope Dacien’s intentions were indeed truly benign.
