Prompto wasn't good at giving gifts; he didn't have much money to spend and wasn't sure what to get a guy who could afford anything he wanted anyway. After days of debate, he decided he should make something instead. He spent the next week making his favorite dishes at home and taking pictures of them. Then he printed them out, stuck them to paper with tape, and carefully wrote out the recipes beneath them. It wasn't pretty, it could hardly be called a book at all, but he hoped Ignis liked it.
Ignis hardly ever celebrated his birthday, it wasn’t a necessity or even very important in the long wrong – if anything it only provided a nuisance. He’d never bring it up should it come to pass and the others aren’t aware, it was certainly irrelevant, right? Besides, he simply enjoyed that he got to spend time with his friends on such an occasion – even if nothing special happened.
So when he seen Prompto approach, book in hand, he was more than intrigued. When it was presented as a gift for his birthday he… was surprised, and a little overwhelmed. He stared at it for so long, his mouth opening and closing before repeatedly. He took it carefully, gingerly, leafing through it as if he was afraid he’d ruin it simply by touching it.
“Prompto… this is… this is wonderful. Thank you so much.” he’s truly at a loss of words, his voice shaking a little – he might just cry yet, “Truly, this is… the sweetest thing I believe I’ve ever received, I’ll make sure to ensure this stays in perfect condition.“
